Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Overall Great!
The course is much better than past years, much improvements done to the course. Kudo's to the superintendent!
This course needs help.
Our cart died at hole 12, saw three other carts being towed before we finished, fairways are horrible. Okay greens, the only good thing. Good hacker course. Could be a great course, has nice layout.
Reasonable price, greens in good shape. fairways need work.
The course has an interesting layout. The greens are in great shape!. The main complaint I have is the bare spots where no grass ever grows in the fairway. They need to bring in some good topsoil for quite a few of their fairways!
Wide open course
It had been a few years since I'd last played Blackhawk. The hole configurations hadn't changed, and the course was largely the way I remember it.
Very few trees and sand traps ... does have a few water hazards, but apart from a couple of spots, there pretty easy to avoid.
Enjoyed the par 5s sprinkled throughout this mostly par 4 course. Even had a couple of dog-leg holes.
greens and fairways were in excellent shape.
the greens were fast. and with the wind the par threes played long. but i if you keep the ball in the fairway you can score on this course.
I like Blackhawk, great value.
The course has under gone major repairs like taking out sand traps and lots of water to soften the hard dirt from before. Still a little bumpy, the carts need to be updated and their are still a lot of no grass areas off the fairway. Good course to walk to get exercise.
It's an okay course, but the fairways are not in great shape.
The carts were very rundown looking. The course marshall was not very friendly. The staff inside the proshop were very cordial.
Good Public Course
Good challenging course from the tips. It was crowded the day we played so it took some time and ran out of light on 17. Otherwise, had a good time.
Poor maintenance and an overall lack of attention
Clubhouse is uninviting and restrooms were horrible. The staff is pleasant but not in a hurry to get anyone on the golf course on time. Layout was average and they need to get some maintenance updated.
Not worth the time and money to play....better courses all over Austin.
The greens were in ok shape but the course itself was awful. Too wet in places and too dry in other places. Bunkers were not good. Areas in the fairway were in repair...some roped off and some not. Tried to talk to the proshop and they did not seem to care..told me the course was in great shape...when I started to question it then they said well, the greens were in great shape. No water on the course...in the coolers....they discovered this around 11:30 when it was about 100 degrees out and the humidity was very high. My first and last time to play here. Don't waste your time or money with this course.
