The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
Tough Course cut of the forest
If you like each golf hole framed by trees then you will love this course. Generous fairways but quickly will get into trees once off the fairway. Nice layout with some difficult driving holes with numerous dog leg holes that forces one to hit drives that long and accurate. Green are somewhat quick and well contoured. The green complexes provided some great shelves and many hole options.
Complete practice facility to get one ready. There are many forced carries from the tee boxes and green approaches. The course also allows to hit long irons and hybrids off many tee boxes with good fairway roll.
This course has an awesome set of Par 5s with the best one is No 14 (602 yards) with an uphill drive over a ravine and then downhill with 2 solid shots. Par 3s can be tricky.
Father’s Day Golf with my son
The pro saw an opportunity to send my son and I out as a twosome. So thoughtful and much appreciated.
Twilight round
Staff and course are impressive. Customer service level is high and the course is in great condition in all aspects.
Go for it!
Course was in good shape even after a nights rain/storm. Greens were great also. Seemed like it took extra time but turned out at 4 hours for 18. Not bad at all.
The Ravines is a great experience
I hope this isn’t the last time that I golf The Ravines. It sure was a treat to play. The course is in private country club conditions, especially this early in the season. Tees are firm, greens are firm and fast, fairways are generous. Then there’s the Ravines. Sometimes you have to tee off over them. Sometimes you hit over the Ravines to the green. Then sometimes you have to layup to the Ravines at a particular distance. The Ravines makes you use many of your clubs in your bag To navigate throughout. The Ravines is a great experience
Summer Fun
Excellent day on a great course. Fairways and greens in good shape.
The Ravines GC
Enjoyed the course. A favorite to play when in W MI. The the course was in great condition, weather was perfect. Only downer was play was pretty slow on this day. 4:50 for 18.
PERFECT
Heard great things about this course, but no one experienced what i had the chance to. Courses have been closed for over a month in Michigan and just reopened less than a week ago, i was the first group of the day and seems like course hasnt been busy since reopening. Conditions were PERFECT. A little cold and greens were actually slow (i think from not being played on or so long and the rain) but im still saying it was perfect. Since no one was out, pace of play was dictated by me and my buddy, and the group behind never came close to catching up. I wish i could go back but im only here for a few days, but will be back next time. Ps only paid $25!
Excellent Day
My husband and I played the front 9 walking today. We transformed our double stroller into a golf bag carrier (with a cooler). Day was perfect. Pace of play was great. We never felt rushed by the people behind us or annoyed at the people in front of us. Everyone was out to enjoy the sun and the golf. Thanks Ravines!
Another Great Palmer Course
Beautiful course. Great layout. Worth the drive.
Played after a heavy rain the night before so things were quite soggy. Didn't play as well as a result.
Workers were busy
The working crew with the cleaning of the swamps wasn’t aware that golfers were trying to make shots around/over them and wasn’t very interested in getting out of the way either! Slow playing on the back, foursome was playing very slow and not a ranger in sight
Decent modern upscale public
The Ravines is an example of a golf course that has been passed by by the times somewhat, though it's still a solid public course option in southwest Michigan. An Arnold Palmer "Signature" design, it represents the height of the pre-depression style of design, marked by oversized bunkers and a lot of ball-swallowing hazards. Still, though, there are several good holes here, and the course is in good shape at a relatively competitive price.
