The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
Challenging but fair
Great track which requires a little bit of course knowledge to score well, but a challenging yet fair course.
Great layout
I was disappointed in the conditions but playing with a local couple learning that new owners/caretaker recently were improving it,. Otherwise it is a beautiful layout and fun course to play.. I will be back!
First time this year
Course in very good condition. Staff friendly and helpful. Only gripe -minor- following a 4 some which was following a 5 some. A tad
lengthy round Definitely recommend trying the course out.
Tough and Fun course
This is an Arnold Palmer Course and it shows! The. Course is really well maintained and is tough but playable, most fairways are reasonably wide and the greens are fast and beautiful, a few bugs but not bad considering the rain they have had. Enjoy!!
Really Nice Course and Good Value
Great layout, fun design, in great shape and and nice value. I played first thing and unfortunately the grounds crew was not well trained. They were often in my line, kept their machines running, or just flat out ignored I was there. That was the only blemish on a beautiful round.
Mr. Henderson
Excellent course. Greens were in good shape. Fast and easy to read. Very fair course for the layout from the whites. Especially the back. I’d highly recommend this course.
Must play
Back tees are a challenge. Greens are a challenge. Tricky, fun, scenic. I would call it a links-hybrid course. Probably the best in the area.
Excellent course conditions
Excellent course conditions considering all the recent rain. 4 hours for 18 holes. Not a typical driver, wedge course. You have to manage your club selection much more carefully than normal. One of the best courses in south west Michigan.
Improved...
First time playing here in 3 years. Last fall's work is looking good. Removal of some trees and brush in between holes is a winner. Course feels a little more tournament like. Very sandy range. Pace of play gets better the deeper into the round you get. By the 13th hole we didn't have to wait at all. Make sure you grab a beverage on the patio below the bar to watch players come in on 18.
Arnold made it tough
Course was in beautiful shape so early in season. Greens were wonderful. Bunkering around greens challenging. A great golf experience.
Maybe my favorite public course in the Midwest
Played Ravines for the first time and was blown away by the layout. Each hole is tucked into the woods, and the layout requires you to be purposeful with every tee shot and approach. The undulating greens made every putt enjoyable, and there isn't a bad hole on the course.
It was quite wet and the course is clearly in Spring conditions (it looks like the first hole cart path is under construction) but I can't wait to return mid season and again in the Fall to see the course with fall foliage. I much preferred this course to Hawskhead down the road
Worth while
Overall I enjoyed the round. The course is listed out well and in great condition for the most part. My only issues were the pace of play, the greens were extremely sandy, and due to the fact that they had a reception going on the clubhouse was pretty much closed to golfers. In addition I wasn't aware that we would be paired up with another twosome. Fortunately they were nice people and we all enjoyed the round.
Spectacular
Fantastic course cut out of the Michigan woods and dunes. Excellent condition and very playable.
Great layout with friendly staff. Course was in good condition with a few rough spots, but seems like they were working on repairing them.
Ravines
I try to play The Ravines several times during the summer. Compared to other courses in the SW Michigan area, it is more challenging. From tee to green, it is well trapped. Tees and fairways seem to have more divots in need of repair.
