Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
Pace of play
Paid for 18 holes. Only played 12 holes because the group of 4 way ahead of us wouldn’t let the single ahead of our 2 play ahead. They were taking probably 20 minutes per hole by the time we caught up to them.
Great course
Course is in excellent shape. Staff is friendly and equipment is well kept. I am puzzled why they close the clubhouse so early and while there are still groupds on the course. We finished Saturday at 8:30 and there were still several groups behind us but the clubhouse was closed?
It would have been nice to get a cold beverage and use the restroom.
It also makes you wonder what if something happened to someone and there was no one there?

Not worth full rate
This course could be beautiful, but there’s a lack of care and maintenance across the entire course. Some parts of fairways are completely dead or just dirt at this point. Tee boxes are is very bad shape full of weeds and not the right kind of grass. Half the bunkers aren’t raked and are hard. And on top of that, pace of play isn’t enforced. There aren’t any rangers out on the course and so there we’re old guys who couldn’t hit the ball further than 100 yards off the tee playing from the blues and taking forever, hillbillies yelling curse words at each other and blasting their music with no regard to anyone else on the course, etc. We had to wait at least 3-5 min on every single tee box to hit and it was super frustrating. In summary, play this course for their good twilight deals. It’s not worth $62+ or whatever it was for a weekend morning round.

woosieman, thank you for the awesome rating! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another great experience, and thanks for choosing Elks Run Golf Club.
Top 5
Only downside is some holes are stacked pretty close (2 scenarios where greens are back to back so if someone’s on one you don’t feel comfortable hitting into yours, 6-7 fairways next to each other) best course conditions I’ve seen in the area though.
Greens and tees showing signs of wear and fungus
I love this course - it’s a great layout. It is typically well maintained, but some of the tees and greens are showing distinct signs of wear and fungus or disease damage. Fairways and traps were generally in good shape. They really need a ranger out on the course - our foursome was slowed by two singles in front of us who never joined up and delayed our pace of play the entire back nine!
Not bad but could’ve been better
Like the course and the layout. We had to wait on every hole and there were no rangers out monitoring the pace of play. The greens were in terrible shape, expected more from this course. Ball marks all over, we watched fixed 3 a hole on the front. Staff was nice. Overall not bad but need to improve greens and pace of play
Great layout
Play here several times a year and the course is always in great condition. There are several challenging holes but hole #15 has always been hard for me. Getting older and not hitting the golf ball that far anymore makes it more challenging to play here, but will not give up playing here as it is such a nice course.
Excellent condition
It's been very hot and dry, but you can tell they dump a lot of water in this course. Fairways and rough were lush, greens were soft, bunkers were in great shape. Good value for the money as always.
We're glad you enjoyed your 5-star experience with us, Jon6297669. Please comment or reach out to our team in the golf shop to let us know more about your round at Elks Run Golf Club!
