Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
The course has a great layout with very nice features. the fairways and greens are very well kept.
The course was playing longer than usual because of all the rain they have had. They were a little behind on their mowing because of all the water. But the course is still a very beautiful course and has a great layout. It is hidden gem out in Clermont County that is a great course for the value.
Love the layout.
Great course for the price. Good shape. Lots of character and no two holes alike.
Scenic and chanllenging
Greens and fairways are in great shape. Tees are good but many unrepaired divots. Traps are pretty firm and I would say in average condition. The course is long and nicely spread out with many interesting holes, lots of water hazards and woods. Not too narrow in most places. It is a fair test of skill. One of my favorite 10 courses near Cincinnati.
Overall great design however the greens could be improved. They also have electric carts that have difficulty with hilly terrain .
Pace of play was not monitored by ranger. Overall excellent design and will become very challenging after to flowery grass on the greens die.
Great deal! greens were smooth, not too fast
Course has some of the smoothest greens in the city. Frost prevented cutting/rolling but great scoring greens for a difficult course
Well kept course
The course was in great shape even though we visited at the beginning of season, very green and well laid out. A fun course to play and still somewhat of a challenge, beautiful scenery surrounds the course and reasonable prices too. The entire staff was extremely friendly and kind.
Greg Norman course is awesome!
What I loved about Elk's Run is that no two fairways and no two greens are the same. Every hole is unique and challenging from the Whites to the Tips. The elevated tee box on the front nine is one of the best views of Southern Ohio nature and beauty. Great experience and highly recommend it.
Great round
Course was in good shape! Staff was great and Greens were in great shape. Will be back
Great Course, Bad Dog
The course was in excellent shape, especially the greens. For how early in the season it was, the greens were well manicured, fast and ran very true.
My only issue was a dog owned by either a manager or one of the staff that stole my peanut butter crackers on the first tee and ran off with my Pro V1 on the 18th green. I can't make this stuff up.
Soggy, windy, winter golf conditions
First time out this year, had a good time. We've had lots of rain & snow this month so we knew what to expect condition-wize. Great value this time of year
Great Place to golf
This was probably the 7th or 8th time that I have golfed here and since it is February in Cincinnati I can't complain at all. Of course the greens were tough to putt on but that is to be expected for this time of the year. Our cart died on the 15th hole (which is a good walk up a hill to the next hole) so we had to walk the last few holes. I went into the clubhouse to let the staff know that the carts were out there and they felt so bad that he refunded my entire Greens Fee's. That was very kind of them to do that. I am not sure of any other course that would have done something that nice. I am glad they stayed open during the winter months.
This course is phenomenal in the summer months. The only drawback to this place is that anytime I have played here while it is nice out the pace of play is dreadful
Course was in great shape for this time of season.
Challenging layout with elevation changes. The back nine requires more accuracy off of the tee or you'll be facing a long iron into the green on the par 4s.
Winter Golf
This course is in great shape for late winter. Not a lot of people on the course so you can easily squeeze in a round if you have a couple of hours to kill. Best course for the money in my opinion.
Courses in great shape will look even better and play better come spring
It's a beautiful course with challenging hills and water runs through some holes, very nice course.
This course has a gorgeous layout!
Other than a few of the tee boxes being in rough shape, it was in very good condition, very impressed! Gorgeous clubhouse and proshop!
great course
Well maintained course has many wonderful features and challenges
One of the best in the region...
Elks Run offers players of every level a great experience. Like many courses players should play the correct tees for their abilities. Don't play the Blue if you are an 18 or higher, there is nothing wrong with playing the White (Member's Tees.)
Great 'risk/reward' factor on just about every hole.
Physically beautiful, whether it is on the links style front nine or the Midwest style back nine. Several holes offer vista views of the whole course, while others cut back into a hillside and make you feel that you "own the course" by their solitude.
My destination course for treating visitors and business associates.
Glacially slow pace of play
I gave up on my round before getting to the 14th green after 4 hours and 20 minutes. The pace of play was heading toward a 6 hour round due to one foursome two groups ahead. The course did nothing about this even when I told them in the pro shop on my way to my car. For a course that markets itself as a high-end, daily fee course with a Greg Norman design, they need to do more on the pace of play. The course conditions are also uneven. Some greens are still showing a lot of the summer stress and fairways and tees are not as good as other courses in this price range.
