About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Good City Course
This course is pretty much what you want from a city course. Not too challenging, and in acceptable shape. Enjoyed the round
Fun course
Good course. Definitely some long holes. Had a group of 4 old guys that wouldn’t let me play through which ruined the pace of play big time. They need to take a golf etiquette course ASAP!

Sandy back nines
Over all course layout is tough. It’s a very good course except the back nines still has some sandy greens. I would say, if your going to aerate the greens. Than the price should come down a few dollars. Other than that the course is great

Nice layout, challenging conditions
The course was reasonably prices and had a nice layout. The course is not well maintained and the greens are in rough shape.

Wet
Like the layout but course was very wet. Not complaining but I was a single and was stuck between bachelor party groups made for a long round of golf. I would like to play again in the future.

Good course when dry
I like this course. It’s flat but there are lots of birds including wild turkeys and some deer. Downside is the driving range is in terrible shape. You hit off mats which need to be replaced.

Very wet course
The staff was friendly and helpful, no complaints there. The driving range was nice... but didn’t accommodate a busy Saturday morning’s worth of golfers.
The course seemed to have many recent facelifts... which due to thier reviews from a while back, it needed it. So kudos. Only complaint is the amount of standing water on the course.... and the cart paths.
So, yes I recommend... but if possible, avoid Florida’s “rainy” season! If there is such a thing!!!

Entire course and range are buggy, always out of range balls
This course is trash. Nobody is nice. They don’t spray for bugs. They clearly don’t have enough range balls. All in all the management puts $0.00 into the course and it’s sad how it is falling apart.
