About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Nice day to Play Golf
The course was busy which was nice to see. The fairways in good shape considering time of year. A good amount of the greens has some significant burnout issues and those areas were covered with a layer of sand to protect them. So the greens are not rolling true. Good day to work on all other aspects of ones game.

I am from out of town and enjoyed myself. I felt the course was in good shape. I played by myself but had a great time. I might try to play again before I leave.

Cold day in December
Course was a in good condition. They had just top-dressed the greens though that didn’t effect my putting... I need a little instruction there. Looking forward to COVID-19 being over and being able to utilize the clubhouse for sandwiches and such.
The ninth hole has a hawk that apparently owns the fairway.

The character of many holes is good but sadly the condition of the course leaves a lot to be desired.

OK course for the money
Greens need some love but overall it is a fair course for the price. I wouldn't pay over 30.

Green Burnout Issues
This course is usually a good mainstay for me as I have played many times. Course presents some decent challenges and one can work on various aspects of their game. Staff is always friendly and it is a good buy with the Golfnow hot deals, This round the back nine greens were clearly burned out from possible over fertilizing of the those greens. Front nine was in good shape. Good bar area and cart girls are always nice and friendly.
