About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Excellent course... need a little more TLC on fairways and greens
Overall was great sharing a round there....
weakest point is the bunkers
Management should bring sand for refills those .That would do the magic around this place
I like this course
I have a friend who comes down from Canada twice every winter to place this course. He has other options but likes this one. He introduced me to it, though I have lived within ten minutes for 17 years. I love being out on this course and it has been a great one for getting back in the game, which I have not played since the 1980s, back when woods were wood. I really give this course 4.5 stars.

Nice layout. Very dry
We enjoyed the course. The pace of play was amazing 18 holes in 3 hours. The course due to lackI of rain was very very dry. Therefore some greens were bumpy and speeds varied. The fairways were hard and rough non existent. Definitely will play again Hoping for rain in all if central Florida.

Enjoyable play!
Thoroughly enjoyed the day, unfortunately the last at Ironwood for a least 30 days! Closed by order of the city of Gainesville in an attempt to slow down the spread of the virus.
One tiny thing that could have made the day more enjoyable - my husband and I play "Best Ball" and move along quite well. Four young men were playing directly ahead of us, and there was no one in sight in front of them on the back nine - yet they did not let us play through. Not a big deal, but probably would have made the latter part of the day more enjoyable for both sets of players, as there was no one near behind us, either. Just saying ... overall, a great day!

Beautiful Day
Had a wonderful round today. I drive 45 minutes to play at Ironwood and it’s always worth it. The starters are always a hoot to talk with. The cart service was on time when we were empty and the course layout is fantastic* Greens were in good shape with just a little bit of sand around the cups. To a guy that shoots high 80’s for a living I can’t complain. The margaritas at the bar were surprisingly delicious as well. It’s my favorite course in Gainesville and I’ll continue to make the trek to play there.
*except for the 10th. Nothing like finishing even after 9 and having that putt-putt length hole destroy my soul. I’m going to try putting it from the tee box next time lol.

Needs work
I love the new driving range set up, especially the lights. However, the course as a whole is looking very rough at the moment. Everything needs tender love & care.

Florida golf
Very nice course. Kind of busy. Better book a tee time. But pace of play is not bad due to course layout. Nice greens. Probably will be awesome once the Bermuda grass on fairways get a little higher. Recommend this course

This course plays tougher than it looks
The course was in good shape , greens were fine , it was a little soggy when we played but was still playable .

Great little course
The course itself is relatively easy to play. The staff is friendly, helpful and considerate. The T-boxes, fairways and green are always in good shape. Ironwoood Golf Course is the BEST course in Gainesville.

First time I played this course. Staff very friendly. Could tell I liked it when I walked in. Not a business pretending to be a golf course. Range balls were reasonable. Putting and chipping assessable. Condition of greens was exceptional. Only a few blind tee shots but description was on score card so proper shot taken. Bar staff friendly and breakfast sandwiches good. Tee boxes need zoysia in the shaded areas but all in all a great course. Want to play it again.

Pretty nice course!!
The only thing that was frustrating during my round was the first level of rough was this thick almost puffy grass. You could literally lose your ball if you were off the fairway by a few feet. It also caused delays trying to find the ball when it should've been a simple find.
Other than that... it's a nice course with reasonable rates, pretty good food, and drink prices that won't kill ya if you want to throw a few back.
