Golf Advisor: Top 25 Courses for Pace of Play in the U.S. (2023 #4)
Reviews
Wet yet playable
Our group has been playing Waterford all summer. The course continues to amaze us as to its resilience to heavy rain. Of course there weee areas with standing water, of course it was 90 degrees for carts. If you live in south Florida you get used to wet obstacles from time to time. From Leo at the pro shop desk to Charlie who runs the show. Waterford is the place to go.
under repair
Greens on Glen Eagle were Terrible All greens were very slow
Mixed Feelings
First time playing here. Staff was first class, as were the facilities. We were supposed to start on Glen Eagles, but there was a league that got a late start, so we moved over to Sawgrass. It was a little swampy in parts. But overall, it was an interesting layout. Conditions were good. Glen Eagles on the other hand, was not very good. But I will be returning.
Terrible
Discounting fact that greens were aerated and sanded recently, which was a waste of time and money, the greens are in need of complete renovation. Carts paths are a disaster, but they are doing some repairs. Fairways and tees ok. Bunkers not maintained daily, apparently. First played here 20+ years ago and will be 20+ years before I play here again.
Really Enjoyed this Course
First time for our foursome playing this course. It will become part of our rotation. Everyone enjoyed the round, even though it was very hot. The second nine provided a fair amount of shade.
Outstanding personnel, from bag drop to pro shop, to rangers/starter, even maintenance.
Pace of play was great, but we'll have to wait and see "in season".
Day of Golf
Course was in excellent shape. On the first hole of Turnberry near the green a sprinkler hole was covered over with grass and you couldn't see the hole and one of our party stepped in the hole and twisted their ankle. They were in the process of mowing the area.
Other than that we had an excellent time.
Great Golf Course
Everyone was very friendly and the course was in great condition. Playing at 2pm was warm but allowed me to play a 2.5 hr round.
Nice course, rude staff.
Well kept course, but lacked creativity. Driver to wedge on every par 4, driver to 7iron on every par 5. Very receptive but very slow greens.
Incredibly rude staff. From slamming our clubs onto the cart to screaming at us to give him our names for the tee time, we were reluctant to even try to play this course. We spent 6hours on the course waiting for a 3some who wouldn’t allow us to pass. We quit on the 16th and tried to explain our situation to the ranger who cut me off and told me to “go, just go, GO!”
So we went. And we won’t be back. Avoid this course!
