Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.

Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Great Course, Great Value

I have played this course several times and it’s a big layout, well conditioned and a great value. Some courses in the Scottsdale area that are not as nice as this one charge twice as much. This might not have the big fancy name but it’s a must play course when in the area.

Dependably Great

The course was in great condition and the Faldo course is a challenging track. I didn’t have even my C+ game so it was a tough day for scoring. Still, sunny and 80 degrees made it nearly perfect.

It has potential, manage your own pace

What resort has no restaurant open at the course? Everything was on the cart, which is unacceptable for the price. The lady in the cart was amazing, she made our day very pleasant! Course was good, silly they wouldn't pair members and guests to keep pace of play. No marshall to keep pace, we played around a group 2 holes behind. Overall, there are way too many courses in the area with a nicer staff, more amenities, and better layout.

The Land of Sand

181 bunkers. Phenomenal course in incredible shape. Really enjoyed the Faldo course design - challenging yet accessible. Pretty wide fairways, true greens, lots of bunkers with good sand. Excited to play it again

Cartpath Only grind

Overall always great, challenging layout. When we played, they had just come off cart path only… Supposedly… But when we teed off, we had no idea we were going to be cart path only for the day. It made for an extremely tiring round of golf. But, pro shop staff and bag drop was great. Everything was lush, but the fairways were very very long, bunkers had no sand and were caked to hardpan, and the rough was so long that it was unplayable. And the tee boxes were long and in rough shape. Greens were very slow and not well cut. You expect a lot more out of this resort and today was not it. Was fairly disappointing for what should be a Premier track.

Exceptionally Poor Conditions

We were given a heads up that the course would be cart path only, kind of topical this time of year. However, we did not realize that the bunkers were unplayable! Dry cracked earth at the bottom of the bunkers with huge ravines and wash outs! We complained about them on our return and were told they were to be considered ground under repair/unplayable and to remove your ball from the bunker. They said that someone should have told us that before we began our round. We also did not realize that when the course is over seeded that it would include the greens. They were downright shaggy and impossible to putt on! The course layout is beautiful but for the fee absolutely not worth it! Golf Now shouldn’t even offer this course. Golf Now should offer a credit as none of this was communicated!

Might as well chip on the putting greens than actually putting.

The greens were not maintained at all. The putting greens were playing like a 6 which made it near impossible to putt. Also got there an hour early just to find out there driving range was closed and they had no artificial grass to lay out so you could still use the driving range. All that for $200 not worth it.

Great course

Beautiful, well laid out. Greens were perfect. Bunkers were inconsistent with depth of the sand at the bottom. Cart attendant was already off at 3pm, the hottest part of the day. Got beverages at the bar but in uninsulated cups so they were watered down and warm within an hour. But the course is awesome.

Great golf course

Great golf course. Course conditions were fantastic. Pace of play was well monitored. Arrived and got checked in. I think it’s interesting that you have to validate on parking. When I got done there was a storm so the gates were up and didn’t have to use the validated receipt. Teed off at 1:45pm. Saw the cart girl 2x on the front 9, and I guess we missed last call cause didn’t see her on the back 9. At least they have water jugs every other hole.

Golf in Valley heat

Well I’ve played the Faldo three times and the 9/1 conditions were avg but I understand the heat plays a huge factor in how a super takes care of the grass but it was Labor Day that means you’re going to have some extra play from locals and out of town guests with I would’ve expected it to be in a little better condition.
