Gary Panks designed Aliante Golf Club to be player friendly rather than score crushing. It is supposed to be a Las Vegas golf version of Cheers.

Everyone may not know your name, but there is a huge practice facility, good clubhouse digs to kick back in and most of all a 7,022-yard layout that does not play nearly as fearsome as its 139-slope rating would indicate.

Which doesn't mean there isn't plenty of variety. With 54 bunkers, 14 bridges, four ponds and two waterfalls, about all Aliante is missing is a kitchen sink on a par 5.

"Aliante is a little out of the way, but it was well worth the trip," Todd Dewey wrote in TravelGolf.com. "It was a bit surreal to be playing in a picturesque setting in that part of town and the fast pace of play made it even more enjoyable. There was absolutely no waiting."

Course did not have anyone pushing pace of play. They allowed the foursome ahead of us to hit their balls at least 7 times each on the fairway. A 4 hour round took us 6 hours. This is unacceptable.

Nice course!

Second time playing Aliante and while it’s not the high end courses right by the strip, it’s well worth the money and barely 25-30 minutes north of the strip

other choices

We had to drive clear across town and were very disappointed. To start, we waited 35 minutes for our lunch and it was not even slightly busy. The cart brakes did not work very well. The fairways were bone dry and I hit off of dirt a number of times. Greens were fine, but plenty of small rocks and sand from traps all over them. We will not likely ever come back.

Overpriced for conditions

I realize with the present watering restrictions maintaining turf conditions is difficult. However, conditions should dictate pricing.

Dry conditions

The course was nice, good tees and putting greens. It obiously is in drought conditions as your in a desert for 1 and also was told Vegas was in a drought as well. For that they had managed it well.

Great experience at Aliante

Had an excellent experience. Conditions were fine for the dormant season. Greens were smooth and rolled well. Fairways ran out nicely. The layout was enjoyable winding through residential areas and desert. We’ll definitely play again during our next Vegas visit.

Simply put it just could’ve been better

The fairways were dead….I understand that it’s the winter time but pretty much every other coarse in Vegas has nice fairways for this time of year, very hard to find your ball when everything is yellow. The rough was like playing in hay. 1 hole has signage about a creek bed the other ones didn’t, hit a great drive to find out it rolled into a creek bed. The sand traps were in bad shape to say the least. But the worst part was the pace of play group ahead of us would take their time and wouldn’t let us pass come to find out they’re regulars and the staff knows about it but doesn’t do anything………6 hour round….

Watch out for Snack Bar guy

Shop and Starter were great.

Guy behind the Snack Bar counter overcharged us for breakfast sandwiches, $19 should have been $13, and overcharged 2 other customers while we were eating. One guy was a local and really gave the counter guy a tongue lashing. We all called him out and got back the money he overcharged. Took my wife 9 holes to calm down

Don't bother

I hardly ever play this course because of the hard ground. While it let's the ball run far, if you hit too far under the ball you can hurt yourself. Got a cheap deal on teeoff app but it wasn't worth it. All the grass is dormant unlike all the other courses in town that have dormant Bermuda for rough only. Your basically playing on dead grass. We had to wait for a cart but couldn't even hit the range while waiting because they were out of range balls. Had to wait for them to collect balls from the range. Course completely backed up. We had to wait on every tee box and we were always the 2nd group waiting. Couldn't get into a rhythm because of the slow pace. Took 5.5 hours to play. Sand traps are gravel, not sand so green covered in small pebbles you had to try to clean out of your putting line. The course has some challenging holes where you have to lay up to avoid hazards but you wind up in them anyway because of the long roll with the hard dead ground. I won't play again, even if it means staying home instead.

Cart delay

Was about 30min wait for our cart, was not able to play a full 18 holes. Would have been nice if they gave us a twilight rate
