Gary Panks designed Aliante Golf Club to be player friendly rather than score crushing. It is supposed to be a Las Vegas golf version of Cheers.

Everyone may not know your name, but there is a huge practice facility, good clubhouse digs to kick back in and most of all a 7,022-yard layout that does not play nearly as fearsome as its 139-slope rating would indicate.

Which doesn't mean there isn't plenty of variety. With 54 bunkers, 14 bridges, four ponds and two waterfalls, about all Aliante is missing is a kitchen sink on a par 5.

"Aliante is a little out of the way, but it was well worth the trip," Todd Dewey wrote in TravelGolf.com. "It was a bit surreal to be playing in a picturesque setting in that part of town and the fast pace of play made it even more enjoyable. There was absolutely no waiting."

Greens

Two out of 18 greens were in good condition the rest might as well have been part of the rough. Horrible horrible horrible greens !! The fairways were better should of cut a hole in those until you figure out how to maintain a green ...horrible would not recommend at this time !!! Paiute is same price same time and 5000 times better just because of greens

Needs Work

Realizing that it's now close to 110 degrees in Vegas I was still disappointed in the overall condition of the course. The greens were spotty and uneven, as were the fairways, and the rough is turning brown.

Also, I guess due to the lack of players on a Monday, there was no cart person, so make sure to stock up on drinks before heading out. A definite lack of on course water coolers.

Summer golf

Upon arrival: Staff is very friendly and helpful. The starter had some great tid bits on the course.

Range: Looked good with view of the mountain. Range was in good condition with ample target to sharpen your game on.

The course: Very nice layout among houses. Not too many surprises except for occasional hazard (dry creek) that runs across the fairway. Bunkers are not too difficult, but some had minimal dust cover with a hard pan below (found out on one of the holes as my shot flew over the green). The greens were a bit shaggy and slow. Some greens were also patchy. In general, the fairways were a bit tight so the ball will get additional 20 - 30 yard roll.

Pace: Must have been the threat of heat. We tee'd off at 8 on Friday and played in 3.5 hours.

Should Be Good Soon

Greens are practically unplayable at this time (5/15/16), but the layout is great, the backdrop is a fantastic mountain view, and staff is nice. The issues with the greens include they need to be cut and the bunkers need to be replaced (filled with rocks that are hit all over the green).

Beautiful course. Reasonable price with GolfNow.

While normally too expensive to play for the value, we got a decent price on GolfNow. As always, the staff (Paul, Eric, Greg, and Al) was great. The greens are in great shape but the fairways are a mess.

Overall it's ok

The staff was great, but the greens were very inconsistent. Some were slow, some were not rolled and others were "patchy". The layout was fun, especially from the gold tees.

Also, we had a fivesome in front of us all day and never once saw a Marshall!

But saw the cart girl at least 6 times!

Nice Traps but no sand.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 Stars was the sand traps. Beautiful design of the traps, nice positioning on the course, but one thing was missing. There was no sand in the traps. Just a slight layer of dust on top of hardpan. There was no way to get the club under the ball to hit a sand shot.

Excellent staff.. excellent practice facilities

Love this course. Played from the whites (senior tees) and shoot 85. Had a triple on the easiest hole with a 4 putt. But birdied the par 5 3rd hole. Awesome day.

Good layout ... Greens were not the best though

Everything about the course was great... But every green was different and unpredictable. Really liked the layout... I'm a 20 cap, my playing partner is a 8. He felt the same way about the course.

Over priced

The photos on line on the course's web site are deceptive. This time of the year all of the golf courses in Vegas have been over seeded with a winter rye. This course was in poor condition when compared to the other courses in the Vegas area. The greens had a lot of poana or a disease, one or the other, and putted very inconsistently. The course just wasn't worth playing when there are so many other ones in the Vegas area that are in great shape this time of year. Especially for the price. Spend your money somewhere else.

Nice course- resort type, and around homes

A nice course with a nice layout. Ground was a little hard, and ball typically rolled 20-30 yards more than 'normal' on a good drive.

Sand / bunkers were somewhat 'grainy', not fluffy sand.

Some pretty holes, where you tee off with the mountains in the distance. Awesome view watching your ball rise with the mountains in the background.

Certainly would play again.

The Greens Are Not Up To Par

We played on a windy day which made the course a little challenging. The people were friendly but the course was in horruble shape. You could barely tell the rough to the fairway. Around the green was the worst part because the greens were filled with patches of grass and sand. (The ball bounced like it was on a trampoline). Also, the traps had absolutely no sand in them. It was so bad you could barely see the sand and all that was there was rocks and clay. I never expected a Troon Course to be in this bad of shape. I would never play here again even if I was given a free round.

terrible condition!!!

course was in terrible shape. More sand on the greens than there was grass. When making a tee time this should be communicated so the customer knows. I paid 43$, had I known I wouldn't have paid even 20$. The ground was so hard, it was hard getting any club under the ball even in the rough let alone the fairway. I expected much better especially from a troon course. And lastly the track is terrible. Every hole is basically straight away.

typical Gary Panks designed course.

No rangers on course led to a more than 5 hour round. very slow pace of play. Course was not that difficult. Spacious fairways, large greens but lots of bunkers. Gary Panks likes to put overhangs on the bunkers which makes it difficult for many to get out of. I live in a community with a Panks designed course so was used to his style of bunkers. Very little sand or lack of upkeep makes bunker play difficult as well. Greens had been recently punched so were bumpy. putts were often kicked off line.
