Great Track

Bears was really impressive. It takes holes from across the world designed by Jack NIckalus and puts them in one challenging round. Great mix of tough, easy, quirky and standard holes. Pick your spots to be aggressive. I posted a few really big numbers and also made a few birdies.

Fun Course

Course was in good shape. Nice overseeded fairways allows for great lies for winter time. Greens are very nice but little slow due to softness from recent rain. Bunkers & range could use a little work.. Love the par 3's and the par 5's on this course! Would highly recommend playing this course if you have never played before or when you are in the area.

such a treat to have over seeded fairways and have GREEN fairways this time of the year!

We played the Blue/White tees and had a blast. First time we have played Bear's Best and we can't wait to go back. Greens were in great shape, rolling true, fairways as I stated were overseeded and the ball set up nicely. Great layout - the only suggestion is more signage on the course.....we went from 16 back to 14 and did not realinze the mistake until we reached the green....but other than that we had a great day of golf on Decemeber 4TH - so no complaints from this group.

One of few over seeded public fairways in Atl.

Green over-seeded fairways in contrast with a dormant Bermuda look very nice. Looked much like a desert courses in Vegas.
12:00 Tee time for Golf Now special $50. However, with fees and tax is around $55. Still a good deal for a Bear's course.
The over-seeded fairways were little thin and tight. Definitely not like Palm Springs winter carpet fairways. It could have been better.
Tee boxes were in good shape. Bunkers were wet and tricky from overnight rain. Good mixture of over the water par 3s. Very difficult long uphill Par 4s & par 5s.

If you want a green fairways in winter, this is one of the few courses in the area other than private. One other course I liked was Woodmont CC.

Overall good experience. The course design and conditions were above average.

You couldn't pay me to play there again!

The course itself was ok. The battery on our golf cart died on the 13th hole. I called the pro shop 10+ times to request a replacement. No one answered. We ended up pushing our cart back to the clubhouse. You couldn't pay me to play there again!

Amazing Course

If you get a chance to play here, you should. Was fortunate to be in Atlanta for vacation and told the people I was playing with I will pick a course through GolfNow. When I mentioned Bears Best was an option they told me to jump on it. It was a good move. You're immediately greeted with a panoramic view of lush greens and gorgeous homes on the horizon. The marshals and starters tend to your every need and give a nice orientation as to what to expect. You're then escorted to the first hole which immediately sets the tone for the rest of the course. Each hole is a replica of some of Jack Nicklaus' best courses around the globe. The views are breathtaking and some of the homes that surround the course are big enough to be B&B's. Well maintained courses and greens envelope you and wildlife is all around - deer galore that you almost have to shoo away before teeing off. This course was a real treat and for the amazing price of $63 for our round (on a Saturday - thank you GolfNow!!!) it was a no brainer. And a great pro shop to boot. Play this if you can.

The course was generally amazing but..

the grass on the tee box and the fairways is too long, It is unusual because the most of time I played on the BB, the course was pristine.

Overpriced and tends to be slow

Bear's Best seems like it should be better than it turns out to be. It is a $60 course but nowhere near worth >$100. I have played twice in the afternoon, both times for around $60.

The layout is pretty nice but the holes are somewhat choppy, probably due to the fact that the holes are a compilation.

The latest time I played, the fairways and tees were over-seeded with rye and it was shaggy. Just like aeration, should not be full price.

The tee times are 8 minutes apart and the round tends to be 4.5 hours best case.

Worth a play if the price is right and the course is not crowded, but that will be hard to get.

Poor condition and SLOW play

This was my final time playing this course due to terrible conditions and repeated slow play. No marshals on the course to speed up play, the staff packs the course with tee times with no joining up of singles with 2-somes or 3-somes, and the overseeding of rye grass was ridiculous on the tee boxes and fairways, Many times the fairway grass was taller than the rough. And the greens were in terrible condition - I know this is tough for the course to maintain, but the number of ball marks on the green was terrible. Course design is above average, but playing experience and customer service in the clubhouse was poor.

The course itself was in good condition when we played, however the greens were in the worst condition i've seen in years on any course. I play both private and public all over the place, and I have never seen anything as poor as these greens, which made the round frustrating. Top Ten course in US? Maybe the layout, but at these prices you would think they could afford to find someone who could maintain the green complex.

Nice design, poor conditions

Was not aware that the course was over seeded with rye and a swampy mess in the fairways! I'm sure the course will be fine in a few weeks but I should have been told of the awful conditions and to pay $80 ! Not a good deal.

the worst time management ever

a fantastic course, but THE WORST TIME MANAGEMENT that I have experienced in my 1000's of rounds played. My foursome of strangers quit after 14 holes after playing over 5 hours, and estimating that it might be a total of a 7 hour round. And this was after waiting for 1 1/2 hours past our tee time. We also saw 2 groups immediately ahead of us quit.

The layout? Excellent. Condition? Fringes and greens need work.

The layout was spectacular. For women of my age and ability the layout was very fair. The fringes and greens need work. It could have been a function of the excessive rain we've had this summer and not necessarily the fault of the greens staff. I'm looking forward to going back when the rain stops.

Great course

The only real complaint I have is that I expect for a pristine course to have greens in great shape, which was not the case. The fairways however were immaculate. Highly recommended I just hope they can get the greens back in better shape without so much damage from people not repairing ball marks, etc.

Great course, Best short game facility (not private) in the Atlanta area! Great staff... I love the layout and it's always in great shape. In the Atlanta area this, i believe, is the best thing going as far as semi private courses go.

Wish I could rate this course better!

Rain! Rain! Rain! And more Rain! This course was soaked, the bent greens were toast! Wet, mucky, divots everywhere, 50% un-repaired, bunkers near wash out, I could go on but I won't. I am sure this is a real nice course under normal conditions. I am sure at some point I saw Noah and the Ark float by!!! Enjoyed the 7 holes we played but just couldn't judge anything, no roll out, rough high due to rain, greens so slow and wet. Sometime in the far future I will go back and give it another go just to get the full affect.
