Bear's Best Atlanta

The greens had recently been punched and didn't have mech sand in the holes, plus the grass was pretty shaggy. Very tough to putt. The bunkers looked they hadn't been raked in a week.

The course was recently aerated and the greens were rough.We were not told conditions of course..
We have played better courses. We were somewhat disappointed.

Amazing day at Bears best, superb course, great condition, some challenges, worth the drive!!

Loved the course. Staff very friendly and helpful. Range balls included. GolfNow directions to course are wrong....Beware. This is the second consecutive time GolfNow directions were bad. Google the course directions directly.

This course is well laid out. The fairways are wide enough for staying out of the woods but if placed e right making par becomes difficult. Staff was nice and very helpful. I will be back. Soon

Played in a scramble to determine if playing in the league would be worth the value. course was nice, wide fairways.

Good course but pace of play is 5 hours. Will return in summer, conditions such as bunkers without sand are sure to get better.

Fun course, fairly open but you still have to place your shots. It rewards good shots and penalizes poor one. Course was in excellent condition except the greens. The greens needed to be cut or at least rolled. They were a little hairy and bumpy. I am sure in season they are much better. A round of golf can be a bit pricey but I got a deal on golfnow. Overall an excellent course. I would highly recommend it.

I had been wanting to play BB for some time, but never have due to the high cost. My buddy and I earned a free round through Golfnow and decided to take advantage.

The course conditions were excellent with exception of the greens which were just fair. The course was challenging on a number of holes, but not so challenging so as to make for a frustrating round.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were top notch with a nice driving range, chipping area, and putting green. Though we did not use the dining area or clubhouse per say, they seemed very nice.

Other than the greens being average, the only other issue was the pace of play over the first 6-8 holes. The first four holes were excruciatingly slow to the point that the marshall appeared to get things moving. We teed off at 1:00 pm on a saturday, and we thought we weren't going to be able to finish. As it was, we managed to finish just as the sun was setting.

Had a great time, the course was fun, but with a round running close to $100 dollars I won't be returning anytime soon.

Good course. Nice layout. I played the day after it rained and it was very wet still. The greens are very slow but I guess that to be expected this time of year.

One of the best public course in Georgia. Love to play again

The course was in great shape. Even though they were doing some repair on a few bunkers the course was excellent. The fairways were excellent and very green. Great look in contrast with the brown rough. The course played long and short depending on the hole due to heavy winds. Great experience.

I know that the people golfing on the course are to blame but they ruined an amazing course with unrepaired ball marks on the greens. I found myself repairing 5 or 6 every hole since it was just 2 of us golfing and no one else was there.

I hate when people do not have the courtesy to fix a ball mark. The clubhouse should give out ball mark repair tools or put them on carts.

Loved the course and facility is very nice but people that golf there need to help out also. Ill probably go back in a month to see if it's gotten better.

Jacks place is one of the best courses you can play, holes from all parts of famous golf courses and I have to mention beautiful homes throughout the course. This time of year with consecutive rain, greens where hairy, but still rolled better than most. Although I graded the course 5 star, some of the Nicholas tees need some work. I was also very disappointed no Marshal on duty, watch a group ahead us hit 90 degree shots all day, backed the course up from start to finish! I felt a little embarrassed for my playing partner whom paid full asking price verses my Hot Deal rate. All in all what a great course, a great time playing and one of my favorites too play.

Bear's Best Atlanta is one of my favorites. You could play it everyday and not get tired of it! Nicklaus was very generous with the width of fairways, it is a second shot golf course. #6 is the 12th from Midfield in Ohio, really strong par 3! 18 is the 18th from Castle Pines in Colorado. If you're playing a match and need to birdie 18, you should have birdied 17! Not a weak hole on the entire course, go play every chance you get! AAA+++

Bears was really impressive. It takes holes from across the world designed by Jack NIckalus and puts them in one challenging round. Great mix of tough, easy, quirky and standard holes. Pick your spots to be aggressive. I posted a few really big numbers and also made a few birdies.

Course was in good shape. Nice overseeded fairways allows for great lies for winter time. Greens are very nice but little slow due to softness from recent rain. Bunkers & range could use a little work.. Love the par 3's and the par 5's on this course! Would highly recommend playing this course if you have never played before or when you are in the area.

We played the Blue/White tees and had a blast. First time we have played Bear's Best and we can't wait to go back. Greens were in great shape, rolling true, fairways as I stated were overseeded and the ball set up nicely. Great layout - the only suggestion is more signage on the course.....we went from 16 back to 14 and did not realinze the mistake until we reached the green....but other than that we had a great day of golf on Decemeber 4TH - so no complaints from this group.

Green over-seeded fairways in contrast with a dormant Bermuda look very nice. Looked much like a desert courses in Vegas.
12:00 Tee time for Golf Now special $50. However, with fees and tax is around $55. Still a good deal for a Bear's course.
The over-seeded fairways were little thin and tight. Definitely not like Palm Springs winter carpet fairways. It could have been better.
Tee boxes were in good shape. Bunkers were wet and tricky from overnight rain. Good mixture of over the water par 3s. Very difficult long uphill Par 4s & par 5s.

If you want a green fairways in winter, this is one of the few courses in the area other than private. One other course I liked was Woodmont CC.

Overall good experience. The course design and conditions were above average.
