Shadow Lakes Club
About
Shadow Lakes Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills with Mount Diablo looming in the background. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the course, providing both challenges and scenic views of the East Bay Area. The undulations of the terrain range from subtle to dramatic and helped to determine the strategic placement of the sharply sculpted bunkers, of which there are many. The design of the golf course blends seamlessly with the existing landscape with swaths of native grasses outlining each hole and natural rocky outcroppings coming into play throughout. The course incorporates links-style characteristics as well as a variety of different challenges including water hazards and deep rough. One particularly memorable water hole is the par-4 16th. This is Shadow Lakes Golf Club's signature hole that features an island green that slopes in front, back into the water.

Great Course, good layout, reasonably fast greens
This is a great course both in terms of value, and the right amount of challenge. Just wish it is not so far from SF. It takes a solid hour between there and the City.
This is a great value.
Very challenging course, excellent greens and fairways for winter. The course appears to drain very well, there were no mushy spots.
There were no marshalls and we were behind a group that was a little slow. It was an excellent winter day. The course has many elevation changes with lots of nice views. The course is in an upscale fairly new and modern neighborhood. Two other very good courses close by. Roddy Ranch and Deer Ridge.
Course was in great shape, considering all the rain we've had lately!
Course was in great shape, no soggy spots.....drainage was excellent! Greens were a bit tricky.
This course has a lot of challenging and fun holes!!
Walkers from the club definately slowed the play. This course should be carts only during prime hours during the week and weekends.
Had a Good Time
I played Shadow Lakes for the first time. The place was packed but the course played amazingly fast. The greens were faster than they looked. The next time I play this course I will have a better idea how to score. The burger was out of this world!
Bunkers need sand
Grenns are smoothand fast! You have stay below the hole to navgate them.
challenging greens
Course was in really good shape. Staff is friendly, but not overboard. clubhouse facilities are very nice. The green were fast and have a lot of challenging contour and elevation changes. pin placements were tough!
The course is very well kept. The staff is friendly. Had a great time.
I played the last two Wed at Shadow Creek. I brought my 13 yr old Grandson the first Wed. Your staff and course completely made his experience great. Your counter person, the starter, the marshall, and even the maintenance people on the course made the day fantastic for him. I will be sending you an email to thank you and explain why his day was so great. The second Wed. was with a friend who had never played Shadow Creek and was also impressed. The T boxes, fairways, greens, and sand bunkers are very well maintained. Again the staff was extremely friendly. We will be back.
Great value, nice layout
Very exposed to the wind, at least on the day we played, but a very enjoyable experience. Teed off at 3:10 on a Wed. and finished by 6:45 at the latest. Greens are unusually tricky to read, but roll well. The layout is open and mostly treeless, but interesting with contours, and elevation changes. The course is fairly forgiving and offers the possibility of low scoring, especially if the wind is low, but the wind was a big factor the day we played. The course is well designed in terms of risk/reward and variety of shots, and the different tee boxes create real differentiation for golfers of different abilities. All will enjoy this course, I believe.
Super low rates...For a reason
This course is in awful shape. It's an interesting layout but greens were fuzzy and bumpy, the fairways were tight and dry and the rough was shaggy. Very slow play and no marshall. We played behind younger guys who were hitting multiple tee shots and mulligans which was infuriating. I booked a single time on golf now and when I checked in the starter told me to go ahead and go. Poorly managed and hardly worth the $24.
I love Shadow Lakes
This in one of the best in the Bay Area. Lots of ups and downs and lots of water. Very challenging and great fun to play! The course is wet right now but in GREAT condition. I play here as often as I can.
We had a great time on a track that got hit hard by rain.
Course had extreme rain for two straight days up until about midnite before we played. The greens were above average and the fairways were good . The bunkers were our only real complaint. If it had been a dry week I think the course would have been in excellent condition.
It was a little wet but all in all with the cart path only rule in effect they are able to keep the course looking good
Definitely a great course to be able to play . There are those holes which will challenge you, only to get rewarded on one of the next holes . There is a good balance of holes on this course.
Had a good time playing. The course was well maintained.
Had an excellent time. The course was well maintained. WIll definitely play again.
This course had some great views
Negatives:
The course did not provide maps of each of the holes. Furthermore the pro shop did not relay the position of the tee for the day. The grounds lack restrooms. Only one for the entire course. Pro Shop staff was not helpful. Too close to homes.
Positives:
Course marshall was friendly and helpful. The course was well maintained. Fast course. Beautiful views of the Delta hills and Mt. Diablo. The course was clean and the pace of play was nice
In great shape for winter golf
Pro shop was very nice and the course was great. Greens were fast and as the day progressed they got slower. All over the course was in great shape. Carts ran good, coffee shop-bar was nice and very quick for you at the turn.
Know your clubs
Tough pin placement in a Sunday. Mixture of open fairways with some right ones. 3-4 holes with water to worry about. Good to know your iron distances.
Great Course to Challenge Your Game
Would highly recommend playing this course if you like a challenge. Played the day after it rained and the course drained well. A lot of elevation changes add to the difficulty, suggest downloading course app for yardages as course is not marked that well. Look for the HOT DEAL on Golfnow.com and save a few bucks.
Good Value
Hadn't played this course in a few years. It was in good shape and most of the greens were in excellent shape. Seems golfers tend to repair their divots here more than other I have been to, which helps keep the greens nice. Hole placements the day I played were tough but still had a great time. I would recomend it to other players
