Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Pedestrian with lots of sand
Eaglewood (Nordic Hillls) has been around for a long time. "Resort Course" but overall the course suffers from a lack of updates. In decent enough shape during the summer it features rock hard greens - several with sand traps fronting or partially fronting...making the course too difficult for less than average players to enjoy their resort experience. Some really uninspired green pads.... most if not all sloping back to front....and in the summer way too fast if you get above the hole. A bit of elevation changes on a few of holes - most are really short for their par....and several that are too long. Eaglewood is a less than once a season play for me. A decent enough place to get in a first round. It was nice to see that they seem to allow carts in the parking lot...it was a real pain not to be able to load up next to the car...lugging your gear to and fro at some distance. Prepare for resort prices on your beverages - $7 for a can of IPA was a bit much. Course is a $30-$35 value at most. When crowded wear a hard hat and gird yourself for some really slow play.. as there's a lot of sand for newbies to fend off and very little space between holes.
First Timer
Pro: short easy course, nice after bar, let you drive your stuff back to the cars, decently maintained, my wings were good, cooler on the cart, lovely staff
Cons: no range, pretty bad course layout, took forever, not a great stop and go at 9
For weather conditions in early April, the course was playable and was surprised how well the green conditions were. Congrats to the GM of grounds and his staff
Wet day early season golf
Eaglewood is a nice course. I never liked the layout but for the money it’s a fun little course. I would go to Bloomingdale if you’re going out thst way
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Eaglewood Resort & Spa.

Eaglewood
Eaglewood is a fun course. It is what my friends call sporty. It has some challenging holes. The sand traps need filling.
Great course and close to the city
I've left Chicago after nearly 15 years, but Eaglewood will always been one of the ones I'll miss. Very serene and always in great condition. Course is short so I've walked it a few times. Lots of (manageable) challenges. Only gripe was that pace of play can be pretty slow, and that was especially true during the pandemic. But you take the good with the bad. Staff is always friendly. Hopefully I'll get back one day.
Very Solid Course
For the cost of a round here, you wont be getting better value in the Chicago area. I think the way the course plays is very fun. Probably the only course in Chicago area that is not completely flat. They dont typically overbook the course so it plays well too. The singular reason I did not reate course conditions a 5/5 is becuase there are two holes that boarder/are inside some woods or tree area and the grounds are covered with acorns, sticks, dried mud and no grass so if you slightly miss the green, then you get screwed over. If they fixed these holes, somehow, id be playing here every weekend
Back Yard
To be honest, it felt like I was playing in my back yard. This is a good thing. If I could have a course, this would be years of cool. Challenging and fun. I was able to have a small bit of success. But like any course, golf showed up and was very out of my mind with some shots that didn’t go well. The resort was full of respectful and timely service. We checked in early and was not met with deer in the headlight looks of confusion. Atmosphere was a pleasure to be in. Many activities to do and constantly something going on there. Really enjoyed our stay and play.
Hidden Chicagoland gem
Eaglewood is a great place to go if you have a mixed group of low and high handicappers. It’s an opportunity for both fun and challenge. Clean. World class food and beverage, and great staff.
Worthwhile
This course is a little off the beaten path, so perhaps it doesn't get as much thought as some. Great staff. The course has a good layout and is maintained fairly well. Good value.
Frigid conditions
Prepaid for round - weather conditions changed on day I had payed for round - with wind chill, course conditions was 30 degrees - too cold to lplayvand too cold for the golf course to be open. Assumed they would have is suited a refund - guess NOT!!!
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
Short, short, and short
Way to short of a course to be considered a real 18 hole course, might have enough land to make a decent 9 hole course. Every hole is on top of another hole and just short and tight. I played in late fall but I imagine this course being very well kept during regular golf season, deep bunkers and tricky greens. Glad it was winter rates as I would not pay the summer rates.
Decent shape
Course is looking alright for Nov 20th, greens needed some work to fix ball marks, rough patches, etc, and also the greens were a bit run down but for the $24 hot deal it was a good day. Definitely would not pay more than $30 personally for this course this time of the year.
H! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Eaglewood Resort & Spa!
