Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Nice course layout, but short
First time playing the course, and I was happy with the value and course layout. No leaves in the trees yet, so it was probably a bit easier than a summer round. Winds were around 20mph, so added to the challenge. Although the course was short, yardage wise, we played from the blacks (which I don't normally play) and it was still challenging since the fairways were not wide open, there were a lot of fairway sand traps, and targets were well protected by trees, bunkers, and water. All in all, a good round for the money, and I'd go back. Pace of play was fairly slow, but it was the first sunny and 70's Sunday in April, so I expected no less.
February chicagoland golf
Very enjoyable day at Eaglewood... course is in good shape, considering its middle of February.... always enjoy this short executive style layout, all 18 hole rounds here should finish in less than 3.5 hours...a good 4some could easily play it in 3... wish I could remember the beverage cart employees name, she was excellent. Not only did she understand the etiquette of driving her cart, but she was truly dependable and professional, her kindness and customer service skills are a great example of what all employees in the hospitality business should aspire to be...thanks again Eaglewood, I'm sure I'll be seeing u soon!
Course conditions were above average
Had a good time. Course was in good shape. Plays well for average golfer.
Frustrated
Booked a 9:12 tee time. Didn't get off until 9:30 because of slow play of the outing scheduled before us. Took over 4 hours to play 13 holes before we were overtaken by a shotgun start by another outing. Never had a chance to finish the round. Demanded and got a full refund. Suggestion: Don't sell the tee times if a massive outing is taking over the course in the afternoon or have the rangers speed up pace of play.
Eaglewood Review
I haven't played this course in close to 30 years. While it's shorter than most 18-hole courses, it was challenging enough. The only recommendation I would make would be to have coolers of water available periodically as is done at most courses. The only option for water was to purchase bottles from a cooler at two of the holes or from the beverage cart.
Nice day of golf
Executive style course as most par 4's are shorter than many other courses I have played. Good place for couples to play. High handicap golfers may find this course a little easier to play. There were a fair number of "hackers" on the course so balls tend to cross fairways quite a bit. Course was in nice shape and the staff is friendly. Stay and play packages are nice. We booked golf on Golf Now and then bought a package to stay the night at the resort. Course has music entertainment and the food at the restaurant was very good.
Worst staff, even worse value
They ran out of power carts. Had 5 guys standing around the starter not doing any thing. They're letting carts go out into the parking lot instead of stopping them for the new golfers. They double booked the course. Took 6.75 hours to finish 16 holes. What a joke. Never again. Rude staff, looked at us when we asked where the carts where. Teed off 25 min late because we were waiting in a cart lol.
Nice Course
Perfect day to be on a golf course. Played with my wife. The course was in great shape. Fast greens, fair rough, nice fairways. The course was perfect for my wife and challenging enough for me to enjoy.
Tough for a Short course
I wasn't too sure about Eaglewood when my Step son asked me to play this course because it was so short for a par-72. But when we finished, you realize this course really tests your short game and putting more than trying to bomb shots. A lot of Par-4 holes are 300 yards roughly. So if you're a average driver of 220 - 230 yards all of the second shots become 9 irons or less. But that is the challenge. You have to have a good short game with some steady putting because these greens are small on some holes and undulating on others. Layout is tight where errant shots get very close to people on the next hole. Overall the course was in really nice shape. For $50 I likely would go somewhere else that has a longer layout but I did enjoy playing the course. And I also found my short game needs a lot of work.
Consolidate groups?
Got a $26 Golf Now rate as a single. Since it was cart path only after heavy rains, decided to walk with a push cart. Was paired with a twosome on the front nine with a twosome in front and behind us. My original twosome were just going to play 9 holes, so maybe it would have been helpful to pair me with another group. Lots of elevation changes, some narrow fairways as well. Played the front in 1:50 and the back in 2:30ish Bunkers were understandably wet, but mostly ok. Greens ran smooth. Congested back nine with some 5 homes talking/betting on the tee. Didn't see a ranger after the 5th hole.
Would play again for a good rate, maybe just not a weekend.
Great course just a bit short
For the price, this course was incredible. Very short course so scores will be low. Would definitely come back for the price and course layout
Great value (I only paid $18 for 18 holes)
Upon arriving, I already felt that I had found a tremendous deal on GolfNow. The facilities were above average and appeared newer than what I have come to expect at many park district courses. Also, I only paid $18 for 18 holes, so you can't beat that. The front nine was not very challenging. I felt that it served as a way to get all types of golfers on the course and get them rolling along. The back nine was more challenging, as there were some elevation changes that required blind shots into the greens. The only negative is that I was constantly looking over my shoulder, because the tee boxes are often very close to the greens. I had two errant balls almost hit me on the 3rd tee box and that was emblematic of a potential issue for the course. Bottom line, it can be a good course for those that can't hit the ball miles and from what I have seen on GolfNow, deals can be had for 18 holes.
Top golf course/great
Last year I playing this course with my baddy.
Nice track, great staff
Pace of play was great. 3 hrs and 15 min. Awesome golfnow rate for a Saturday afternoon. Only gripe were the greens. People need to fix their ball marks! I Fixed at least 5 per green in addition to my own. They could be great greens if only my fellow golfers would take the time to fix them. Staff was very nice especially Sarah the cart girl! Will play this course again!
Good Conditions With Interesting Layout
First time played. Enjoyed the course layout and conditions. If handicap is 15 or under, play from the tips instead from the silvers (white). Silver tees make the course short. Will be back.
