Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Only took me 30 years! Photo submitted by rjhmu on 11/04/2012
It is a tight course
This course is tight. We spent most of the day with other players in our fairway. We had to duck 6 times for shots not hit true.
It is a nice looking course a few greens need help.
I would not suggest playing it becuase of the stress of people in your fairway and all the stray balls.
I golf to relaxe not to spend the day ducking.
Awesome !!!
Very beautiful golf course Frandly staff Awesome restaurant
Great golf great conditons great time
Despite the greens being aerated which made them jumpy so you didn't get a true roll the course was in almost pristine condition. Not a bare spot in sight, the views were as one member of our group said looked like something you would see out on some of the tour events. Everything was in proper place and I imagine that's how it is every time out. Everyone enjoyed themselves and two of our foursome is planning a weekend golf stay because the course was so nice. The staff were also friendly and helpful. We all will be back.
looking for ok place to play for under 35
greens are ok fairways are ok if you can get it under 35 and if its wide open and you can play fast its ok.
Cheap quick round
This course is just OK - good for a low price and a quick round on a weekday. Haven't played on a weekend, I imagine it will be slower. Greens are in below average shape, slow and some are kind of beat up.
Will Play Again
The course is not long. Mature trees narrow the fairways. Greens have moderate slopes. You have to play well to score.
Short Course, tight fairways, quick greens, lots of bunkers
I love the layout of this course. From the t-box, it is an A+. This course demands a good tee shot to hit the green in regulation (GIR). Not very long course either, so don't need to hit driver on every hole. Some holes reachable par 4's with driver depending on wind. The only downside was slow play. It is a public course and the price is right, so you will get hackers out there that don't belong playing this tough of a course, so that is why round took so long. We waited 5 minutes before teeing off every hole on a Thursday. The fairways are a bit burned out, but summer in this area has beat up many courses, so it is not any worse than elsewhere. The greens are quick, but they are also very beat up, ball bounces all over the place. Greens still better than average in my book though. The rough around the greens is another story. Horrific. Some areas have good thick grass. Other areas have spotty grass, ball sitting in little holes so to speak. So hard to chip. Most country clubs allow grass around the greens to be thick all the way around. This course needs to fix that issue and it would be a course I would play regularly. I don't see myself going back again this year as I have a lot of other courses I would like to play. I will be back next year, and if that doesn't improve, the grass around greens and the fringe spottiness, I will never go back. I am giving them a break for spotty 100degree weather that burned up a lot of courses. Like I said, from each tee box, course was phenomenal
They had a 90 degree rule in effect for no reason.
Two greens were in poor shape, but overall the conditions were good. The weather was beautiful so the course was crowded.
Very nice course with a great staff
A couple of the greens need to be spruced up but overall we had a great time on a good course.
great bargain
Well worth the 39 dollars to play at. Bunkera were well maintained. The course is fairly short but still in great shape
Horrible First Experience
I finished this course in 5 1/2 hrs for a short course is not acceptable. When we contacted the club house to send rangers to speed up the pace, we were told that there were 2 rangers out there but we didn't see a single ranger during my 5 1/2 hr time. It was a horrible experience at the course. Would not recommend.
Beautiful Course
This is the second time I play this course and I was still amazed at how beautiful and well designed it is. Challenging yet enjoyable to play. The fairways and greens were very well maintained and the staff was very friendly and approachable. I accidentally booked my tee time for the wrong day but the desk clerk at the pro shop switched over my date and was able to play without a hiccup. The best part was that he did it without me having to ask for it and went out of his way to accomodate my group.
Eaglewood
This was the 2nd time I've played the course in the last 2 years - the greens on 16 & 17 have been "under repair" both times. Give yourself an automatic 2 putt and save yourself the aggravation of putting on the shaggiest surface you've ever putted on.
Proximity of tees and greens is very uncomfortable - you feel like you should be wearing a helmet.
We paid $38.50 with cart on a Sunday with GolfNow. While that's a great price for golf in Chicagoland on a weekend - we also got what we paid for.
Enjoyable round, but...
Enjoyed playing this course, for the most part. Only problem was that the abundance of bunkers, which looked nice, were mostly a thin layer of sand on top of what felt like hard pan dirt. My wedge merely skidded along the sand and I skulled just about every shot, and I'm usually a pretty decent bunker player.
There seemed to be little speed consistency from green to green, but the recent hot weather may have been a contributing factor, although I haven't seen the same problem with other area courses.
A nice Course.
Course well maintained (I give them a pass for a temporary green on #17). Great facilities and friendly staff. Super price.
Short course, not well maintained.
This resort course looks and feels like a resort course. This is a short couse - Mostly par 4's that play from about 300-400 yds. The fairways are in fair condition. Some areas required new sodding, as the old patches had died weeks ago, and in other spots of the fairway, the ground was as hard as rock. A few greens actually had dried dirt and sand patches. Making it very difficult to roll a nice putt. Overall, if you are looking a cheap, easy round this might interest you. If you're more accustom to playing well maintained courses, you may want to look else where.
Great
Great course for the money. Great staff and challenging back nine for beginners.
communction between golf course and golfnow is not so good .
eaglewood resort they don't have my reservation something was wrong so i gave my confirmation number .
Tough little resort course
I expected an easy resort course with wide fairways and little trouble. What I found was a course of only 6000 yards but it makes up for it by lots of water and sand. Course was in an excellent condition. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely play there again.
Excellent course for price
Course was beautiful only problem was they repaired two greens the day before we played other than that it was worth every penny. Short holes that make birdies seem easy.
