Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Only took me 30 years! Photo submitted by rjhmu on 11/04/2012
Good and Bad
Super great price, staff was honest, course was average for time of year, except, seven greens burnt badly, others needed you to use driver to get it to the hole.
Not a long or difficult golf course.
The golf course is beautifully tree lined, with ample landing zones off the tee but with plentiful, deep sand bunkers awaiting off-line shots.
Good Value
A few of the greens were in rough shape, but all around an enjoyable round of 18.
good
I never had opportunity to play professional courses however I feel this course is always well groomed and staff upfront and helpful.
Course in fair shape; couple of greens very poor shape

Ryder Cup Atmosphere at Bargain Prices
While the old Nordic Hills has been face lifted by the Doral folks, Eaglewood is a sporty 6,000 yards from the back tees, but the course (because of the topography and proximity to Medinah) maintains a similar look and contour to its neighbor. Tall Oaks and Maples are prevalent and the bunkers protect small contoured greens. The course since about 2004 and has been well maintained and pace/amount of play is always reasonable.
For $25 through Golfnow its a bargain and glimpses of the carnage left on No. 3 is evident throughout your round. Fall colors make it even more enjoyable.
Reasonable fees on Golf Now for this course
The staff at the course were friendly and informative. Fairways and tee boxes were maintained. Greens are in terrible condition. Would not pay full charge green fees for this course
Just too slow
The good: staff was awesome....very friendly and did everything they could to make it an enjoyable round. Price was right...the course was worth $25
The bad: pace of play was awful...they need to get some marshals out on the course doing their job! Course really beat up...not unplayable but needs some TLC.
For $25 it is worth the play if you can stomach waiting on almost every shot. Some of the holes are real good golf holes, others are a little on the easy side.
Nice course
Nice course, quite challenging, but some of the greens were a little rough. The staff (except for the starter) were quite dismissive.
The greens have a lot of issues as well as fairways.
Greens are bumpy, temporary greens and some are patchy and torn up. Fairways are under renovation and tee boxes not well kept. Kind of suspicious about their attire rule in order to promote their pro shop apparel.
Outstanding golf course
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. Everything was just as it should be for a great game of golf.
Not bad for a short course.
This course is a bit short even we played from the black (back) tee.
Quite a few PAR4 definitely do not need a driver or even a three wood.
Love the elevations and green is in good condition. Some holes are narrow and definitely need to be accurate.
I enjoyed it since I had one of my better round here (78) in a foursome, good pace and no one in front or behind us even though we tee off on a Saturday morning at 7am.
Great for the money
The sand bunkers and well kept fairways make this a fun course for its length. Good value and great people, have fun.
fun
short , good course for fun round, driver not needed for long er hiters
Fun Course in Bad Condition
When this course is in good shape it is a lot of fun for the average golfer. Short Par 4s, Long Par 3s. Unfortunately it has been in bad condition the last 2-3 years. Some was water damage and reconstruction, but all the greens were beyond wear and tear this past time out.
Really loved it the first three times I played it, but the last three will make me skip until next year.
If you're even a little picky about course condition, especially the greens, this isn't the course for you.
The course is quite short and the greens are not in good condition. While I would give all other aspects of the course pretty high marks, low handicappers probably should stay away.
Short and Sweet
I thoroughly enjoyed this course for the simple fact that it is not so driver oriented due to its short length. This made for a fun and rewarding, as well as a cerebral round of golf. Not having to pull driver out on every par 4 / 5 kind of gave credence to the old adage that "variety is the spice of life". Except for the (2) temporary greens due to some form of virus, I would definitely recommend this course for the average 85 + par player looking for a relatively quick and enjoyable round.
