Quarry Pines

Very playable front nine, turn the corner and all breaks loose. Make sure you bring lots of golf balls, don't look at your score, just enjoy.

Not used to the Quarry charging so much for a round, specifically in May.

Fun Course

Quarry Pines is well maintained. Sand traps are typical for Tucson (not very good), but fairways and greens are very good. The layout is challenging at times but also has holes that even a beginner can enjoy.

Painful pace of play

Pace of play was completely ignored by the staff. Over 5 hours to play and the marshal did not help to speed things up. Golfers need to be held accountable for their pace of play.

Also, they need to put sand in the traps. They are rock hard.

Interesting course

Fun course to play front side went great with a nice pace ,back nine different story waiting on every hole so it ended up being a 5 hour round. Finished at 5:30 bar and grill already closed. One member of cart crew was rude with customers, when finding a players phone in a cart he suggested to the owner that he leave a big tip to compensate him. Like the course but few amenities

I Gotta Pee

My only negative review for the course was a staff member came out and locked the restrooms on the 16th hole moments before we were use them. So, we had to hold it until we finished 18. NOPE, when we got back to the clubhouse, it was locked up tight. Personally, I think somebody should be tending the clubhouse if not for anything else, but just in case of emergencies. Yes, there were still other golfers on the course.

Amazing Course, But…

Played this course, and we were amazed at how nice it was. All of the cart paths were cement, and were in great condition. The grass, from the tee boxes, to the fairways, 2nd cut, and greens, were all in absolutely great condition. It was beautiful to play on! Hole layout was amazing. The back 9 holes were incredible with elevated tees and so much scenery. I’ve played 5 different courses in the area, and this is by far my favorite course so far! It’s even better than many course I’ve played in the West, from Southern CA, Las Vegas, and Utah. This course really is one worth the money due to its views and how well the grass and layout is maintained. There is also plenty of trees to give shade to you on hot days, as well as bathrooms along the way to do your business if needed.

My only gripe is pace of play and the lack of a course ranger. The front 9 holes were great. We barely had any waiting time. There is an employee at hole 1 to check you in, which is nice so that check-ins go smoothly. Pace of play was a 8/10 on the front 9. Hole 10 is next to hole 1 as well. Well, when we finished the front 9, and moved to hole 10, that employee was no longer there (our tee time was 1:40pm and we got to hole 10 ~3:55pm so I’m assuming he wasn’t there due to the later time). So we made our way to hole 10 and we were backed up 4 groups on that hole! In other words, we were three groupings behind the group teeing off. What happened???? It was not like this on the front 9. So, due to this, it took 45 minutes to finish hole 10!! Insane! Pace was very slow after hole 10. It got a tad better once we got through hole 10, but we still were waiting for two groups on every hole after that. Due to this, we had to leave the course after hole 14 because it was already 5:45pm! So it took 2 hours to complete 5 holes which is just ridiculous! To make it worse, there wasn’t a single course ranger in sight making sure pace of play was improving. I’m sure some extra groups snuck their way into the back 9 because the back 9 on this course is by far the most scenic and fun to play, so everyone wants to play it. If groups did sneak their way in, it’s 100% due to that employee leaving his station at hole 1 check-in, or the course not having anyone making sure they aren’t cutting into the back 9!

Well, we decided to drive through the rest of the course, and when we came to hole 16, we found which group was holding up everyone else. And guess what? As we passed them, and then drive through holes 17 and 18, there wasn’t a single group of golfers either on holes 17 or 18! So due to that very slow group on hole 16, and the lack of the course having rangers, many of us got frustrated and didn’t really enjoy our play and had to leave a lot earlier than we desired due to it.

This is my biggest gripe here. It’s our first time here, so I can’t say this happens every time, but it happened on the time we went, so I feel it’s worth mentioning it would possibly be a common theme there.
