On back 9 Photo submitted by Lsj021 on 11/18/2012
Great layout
Nice course for the money. Back nine is much harder than front nine.
Quarry Pines Golf Course
The golf course is in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are very nice. Customer service from the pro shop to the starter was also excellent. I would say that the only negatives are that the golf course does not have a driving range to warm up prior to your round. We were also told by the staff that they do not sell any alcohol at this time so if you want to have some drinks while playing you may want to bring your own. Otherwise this golf course is definitely worth playing.
January 2024 Quarry Pines
Course is awesome. Love the true roll of the greens and the layout - tough holes as well as drivable par fours for the risk-reward challenge -seeker.
Impacted by Mother Nature
We were only able to get through 12 good holes and 2 terribly wet and cold ones before the Colder, Rainy/Icy weather showed up and forced us out! Hopefully we will get another chance on a more sunny and warm day in the near future! Staff and Course were awesome though!
Sad!
I want this to be a great place to golf. The course, layout, and views are great. Unfortunately, both times I’ve played here, the pace of play has been BRUTAL! 7min tee time spread is unbelievable! Ironically, the scorecard has all kinds of pace of play information, ( which I’ve never seen at another course)but there isnt anyone who manages it. Both times I’ve played here, we had to quit at the 5 hour mark on hole 15! It’s is an affordable course, but I think they could do better to charge a bit more, spread the tee times to at least 10 minutes, and figure out how to get people around the course in 4:45 or better.
Great course with the quarry design
Took my 7 yr old daughter for the first time and everyone made her feel welcomed. Hopefully 1st of many memories for daddy and daughter.
Very good course. operations not so much
I'll start with the good. The course conditions were very good. The layout is tight but interesting especially the back 9. For the cost the course is a value BUT the operation sides were not good. First we had two older cart staff literally yelling at each other. The kitchen shut down at 2:30 so no food at the turn and no driving range. The worst part hand down was no course Marshall on a very busy day. The pace of play was brutal. We were on pace for 5:30 but we picked up after 15 as there were 3 groups stacked up on the 16th. Really could be a great place and value to play but Management has significant work to do.
Charged for 9 holes as for 18.
When your t-rime is 3 pm there is no way you can play 18 holes. Sunset is at 5:16 in December and it takes 2 hours to play 9 holes…
Fun challenge
I have golfed this course several times over the years while visiting the Tucson area. It definitely has some challenges being built in an old quarry area. Some of the fairways are narrow, which makes accuracy imperative. The course is in good shape. The day we played the greens were quite slow so you had to be aggressive on most uphill and level putts. Overall, I think most would find this course enjoyable. Bring a few extra balls as you will probably need them. There are some very nice views and I enjoyed another round at Quarry Pines.
Rude lying starters
Booked a 2:45 time. Not one of the three starters or cashier mentioned a return time nor did it say on the receipt or golf now. Everytime I’ve been here we go til dark and nobody says a thing. This evening we were approached by a starter on the course cussing and being rude saying we were supposed to be back by 5:15. When I asked where it said that he said he we were told verbally. Between the four of us none of us were told and we could see 4 other groups still playing.I find it hard to believe 5 groups just broke your verbal commands. Learn how to talk to people that was pathetic.
