StoneRidge Golf Course
About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

Gorgeous
Very variable terrain and target golf on some holes. Gorgeous views from many holes. Many holes with radical ups and downs and crossing gullies and washes. Fun.
poor pace of play
5 hours of golf because pace of play. no seem to care. Also to many holes closed to carts add to the slow play.To bad was a fun course to play but I won't be back.
Awesome views, awesome layout and with 6 sets of tees. A hidden gem of a course.
Without a GPS on golf carts, it's very very difficult to determine distances, and planned landing zones.
Slopes, angles, constant elevation changes from tee to and including greens are spectacular, but for the average and even better than average golfer it' s very difficult to plan a safe management route. And the consequences of a poor shot choice from the tee or fairway can be (are) disastrous. Fortunately I brought my own GPS. It's too classy a golf facility not to have the GPS aid. Truly slows play. But I can't wait to return!!
challenging but fair
great course with challenging greens and many changes of elevation.Cannot wait to play it again ,being more familiar with layout now.
Great course
Windy day in Prescott. Perfect temperature and playing golf on an excellent course. Other than the strong wind it doesn't get any better. Can't wait to play there again.
What happened?
Recently returned to the area and was excited to play one of my favorite Arizona courses once again. What a disappointment! This course has seriously deteriorated since I last played it. Carts were in poor shape, with balding tires, I barely made it through 18 holes as the battery was dying. Course conditions were very poor. Many bald spots around the greens, greens were awful with many blemishes and were the slowest greens I've ever played in Arizona! What a shame. This course is one of the most unique and wonderful layouts in all of Arizona with marvelous views. A treasure falling victim to mismanagement and neglect.
Stoneridge's decline
This corse is no longer what it use to be . Don't bother coming to play here now , there is no grass growing on the fairways , the tee boxes are all sand , and rounded .your lucky to have a flat lie on a tee box . The greens where plugged a month ago and still have not recovered . Very poor course condition compared to years past .the problem seems to be mismanagement and a terrible course supervisor , they lost a great pro shop staff and now have people in place who no nothing about golf , course maintained by angry upset staff who care nothing about the course or it's condition . This place used to be in great shape but no longer .
Stone Ridge
This is a very challenging golf course. I was very disappointed that I was only allowed to play the back 9. I was not informed that the front 9 was being plugged and sanded before I booked my tee time. Greens were not uniform in speed. I will play there again when I want to humble myself.
stoneridge
I can play this course all day every day..in my opinion the one of the best Golf courses in the state..I love it.....
Target golf
Fairly challenging for first timers. Many blind shots, longish carries to landing areas. Most misses are unplayable due to steep and brushy terrain. I would play it again. Staff was friendly and helpful.
This course is a good test from the tips.
First time playing this course. It is a good test from the back tees and a lot of fun.
The course was in pretty good condition considering the time of year. Not recommended for beginners. Pace of play was good for a weekday. Will play it again.
Beautiful!
This course is so beautiful! It's a challenge but worth the drive to play! The staff is friendly and inviting. Do not want to walk this course as it's very hilly and spread out! You'll want a good supply of balls! My new favorite course!!
Not for the weak hearted
This course makes you think. The yardage card at the pro shop really helps since it was our first time. On certain holes the fairways will roll your ball into the rough or in a lateral if you are not aware of the extreme slope. Bring many many extra balls if you are not an accurate hitter. High desert golf with alot of surrounding desert. If like flat, forgiving, easy to find your errant ball golf courses...do not play here. The battery died on our cart so make sure you change carts at the turn if you feel suspicious about your cart. Our other 2some had to push us for the last 4 holes.
stoneridge
fairly difficult course not in the best condition but not bad for the winter.
great golf experience
The greens are really tricky, the fairways are beautiful and the elevation changes always keep you guessing. I'd say its a top 5 course in AZ! And the weather is almost always perfect! If you haven't taken the drive up to Prescott you should just for this course.
Billygoat golf
Course is very hilly, and tricky. Buy the yardage book. Fun target golf. Beautiful views of Arizona central highlands.
Being TRANSPARENT to your customer?
Was a wonderful looking track HOWEVER, Fairways were PLUGGED, Greens were 'under repair '& plugged also.
Would have been nice to be told this PRIOR to taking my money.
Wonderful layout, condition and staff!
Very challenging course, long hitters will not like this course.
An Excellent Day in the Sun
Global warming has its perks -- like Prescott at 65 degrees in January. Playing StoneRidge in such wonderful weather was a great way to enjoy winter golf. The course was in excellent winter condition; well worth a drive on a sunny day. My only critique: repair your carts. Ours looked like it had been sprayed by a large cat and chewed on by a pack of coyotes. Yes, it got us around, but it wasn't up to the quality of the course and club.
