Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Great condition, challenging layout
Course was in very nice condition, excellent greens, not many straight putts, lots of carry shots and to score it is best to play a draw most of the time. Thankfully, I can draw the ball, so it was an enjoyable round. You do need to calculate the yardage before every shot, even off the tee, to stay out of trouble and score. Great course.
Good course
I am back playing golf after about 15 years and am loving it. We chose a weekday afternoon in early summer and it couldn’t have nicer. Course is challenging and in decent shape
Horrible Pace of Play
Tee times are 9 mins apart, I think it’s a very greedy practice by club for a course relatively difficult for average golfer, played here twice both times weekday, 6+ hours for 18 holes, miserable…. they have at least 3-4 long holes that are no car path which contributes pace of play, even east Potomac has faster pace than this place.
Challenging course
We played late afternoon on a Monday. There was a tournament earlier in the day so some fairways had a large amount of divots but overall the course, greens etc were wonderful
Not good.
Course was totally packed - no starter to get people off properly. No Marshalls on the course. Played 9 holes in two and a half hours and didnt stay for the second nine. Extremely hot and there was not a single water station on the front nine. Left after nine as we waited on every tee box for at least 5 to 8 minutes.
Awesome hidden gem
Played this course early morning and it was great. The guy at the pro shop was super nice. The golf carts are awesome and the course overall was fantastic. The only thing I would say is I wish people would fix their divots. It seemed like every green had quite a few.
snoozfest
We played this course last year in July I believe and we had a three hour nine so we asked for rain check for remaining nine hole they said no problem and then we came back later in the year same issue we played nine in three hours got a rain check and that brings us to today we ran into same problem but they told our rain checks have expired and we paid $109 to play on a course that’s condition is of a $45 golf course. Today we said no more rain check we’re not coming back for this crap again so five hours fifty minutes later were we’re done. They overbooked the course and do not give two shakes if you enjoy your round
Pace of Play was Horrible
I have never played a slower round in my life. I knew we were in trouble when there was no carts available because of a charity golf tournament earlier that day. Then there was a line to tee of on the 1st hole. When it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to play 5 holes, I knew even though our team time was at 3pm and sunset was at 745/8pm there was no way we would finish the round. And we didn't, finally giving up from lack of light and energy on the 14 hole and 4 1/2 hours later. Which I heard from other golfers the course is infamous for. Course layout was nice and conditions were ok but I cannot spend money to spend hours waiting in golf carts. Will not play here again.
Did not Finish Round - Becuase of Golf Tournament
We made an 8:24 tee time on a Friday, the pace was great until we got to hole number 15, there were six golfers on the tee box waiting to tee off for over thirty minutes. We call the clubhouse to see why there were six golfers playing together - the staff said it was a tournament and to come into the clubhouse to get a rain check for our last four holes. Why would you schedule tee times if you know you are having a tournament? (Money grab) Unbelievable - please check before playing this course. Also Veterans - this is the only course in the area that recognizes veterans on one day (Mondays only) other courses in the area offers military discounts everyday. Just Be ware!
9 to 5 Get-Away
Weather was great, course was in great shape and just the prep I needed before heading to tackle the Myrtle Beach courses.
Deteriorating Conditions
Been playing this course for several years now and the course conditions are getting worse and worse, feel like they have given up or maybe under financial strain. Booking tee times and keeping tee times and pace of play on schedule still seems to be an issue. It’s gotten so bad myself and friends are looking for new options for our home course.
My favorite course in the area
the first time i played here a few weeks ago, the course got the best of me because of all the blind shots. I've been back twice a week since and have gained better course management because of it.
