Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Terrible on all Levels. Bad conditions, bad people
Typically a fun and challenging layout to play. Don’t like doing bad reviews but had a group of 4 carts behind us with 6 people (likely employees) in the carts yelling at our group to hurry up. We were all shooting in the 90s and keeping pace. They used an air horn on a hole in one of our players backswings. I spoke to the GM after the round about this and he didn’t seem to think it was that much of a problem if they weren’t doing it the entire round. Not posted that the fairways were being airrated but they would have been awful either way in their shape. Half the greens were in pretty bad condition. For a $100 course this is a pathetic representation.
Challenging course
Lake Presidential is a beautiful, challenging course. The starter, Marshall and cart girl were all friendly. I believe that some carts were electronic, but on my cart the screen wasn't working. These course seemed to be under repair on some fairways and damaged possibly from flooding. The round took about 6 hours which wasn't desirable but I played with very nice people, so it didn't feel as long as it was.
Worst course in the county
We had three groups play there today it was awful course conditions was the worst in the county. We play twice a week different courses by far this is the worst.. we are boycotting this course. They charge us $105 to play a poorly conditioned fairway, It was cart path only and it hadn’t even rained all week. They aerated and left the plugs all over the fairway.. look like tractors been running all over the fairway.. we are about 20 players strong and we will tell our network of players to stay away from Lake Presidential.. Highly overrated even members complained in the parking lot.. big ripoff.. sick to my stomach..
Punched fairways and greens
They were punching greens and fairways. Greens were not in good shape. The course layout is great. I wish I had played when it wasn’t being punched. They don’t tell you ahead of time
What happened to this gem??
One of the guys I played with said that he read that this place was in the top 10 public courses in Maryland, are you kidding me ! The tee boxes look like they have been plowed and ready to be planted. I have never seen greens with so many unfixed ball marks. The bar only served hot dogs. This place is a dump and not worth playing at any price. This place was a great track 5 years ago, how did the management let it go so far down hill. I hope that it can make a come back, but I could not imagine it will be anytime soon.
Terrible
Worst managed course I’ve ever played. Had a 8:00 AM tee time and it was already 20 mins delayed and then a 5+ hr round followed. The course was also in awful shape. There was a reason this was the only course with availability. They over fill a tough course and don’t manage the beginners who moronically think they should play there. It’s a shame. It used to be a nice course. I’ll never play there again
Disappointing conditions
Lake Prez should be a top tier course in the area. The layout is challenging and interesting, but the course conditions are not close to what you'd expect given the greens fees. If we hadn't gotten a hot deal on GolfNow, I'd have been very upset with the value. Just a couple of notes on the course conditions: bunkers were unplayable (water, rocks, lack of sand), greens were pretty messed up with ball marks and general wear and tear, and fairways had some pretty serious dead patches with no grass and were sopping wet despite it having hardly rained in the preceding few days. for example, my playing partner LOST a drive that went right down the center of the fairway (we assume because it plugged so deep underground). this course has so much potential, but clearly it's not being maintained to the level you'd hope for or expect. There's too many other good courses in the area, so I unfortunately won't be back until I have confidence that this track is being maintained at a level you'd expect given what they're asking folks to pay.
Great Course
Really fun and challenging course that is quite picturesque. The pace of play was just a little slow, but otherwise, a great experience.
Terribly Managed
6:45am Tee Time on a Sunday morning. arrived at the club house right at 6am - checked in got a small bucket of balls warmed up at the range, putted a bit and headed to the 1st tee at 6:40. Arrive at the first tee box to find 4 groups waiting to tee off without a starter in sight . About 6:50 a teenager shows up via a cart and drives it onto the blues tee box and says "you guys are 6:45 right? We got you checked in just wait for your turn"
We finally got off at 7:30 am - 45 minutes after our tee time and well the day went downhill from there we waiting 5-10 minutes at every tee box and at times waiting for approach shots while folks were taking excessive time on the green.
We made it to the 15th hole before calling it - tee time was 6:45 and after skipping the last 4 holes we walked into the pro shop at 12:15. nearly 5 and a half hours after our scheduled tee time - ridiculous.
$100 is a lot of money to be charging, not having a ranger keeping rate of play up or a starter staggering folks. Lake Presidential is a clown show
Bad pace of play and bad management
Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Waited 25 minutes to tee off because they had no available carts. One cart died on the 2nd hole. After 9 holes, the guy working the proshop said we could get a 9 hole credit, but we needed to call the shop tomorrow am to receive it. Spoke to the gm over the phone the following morning, and he wouldn’t honor the 9 hole credit that the employee promised us. Worst experience I have ever had, never going back thanks to the gm who thinks it acceptable to play 9 holes in 3 hrs,
Not worth the price
Green are beat up, bunker are not good some fill with rocks, tee box beat up, bad drainage system fairway are ok
Not a good value
Course was in decent condition, although the greens were slow and ball marks were not being repaired. Almost a 5.5 hour round that started 20 minutes late due to a backup on the first tee. Fairways were in good enough condition, but tee boxes and greens could use some attention. I doubt I will return to this course. There are better tracks with better value in the area.
5 and 1/2 hour heat wave
I like the course. It's challenging but fair. Even with the recent heat, the course conditions were very good.
But 5 and 1/2 hours is waaay too long to be out in 95+ heat. This even though we saw the ranger several times.
The beverage cart girl was hustling but after one pass on #1, we didn't see her again until the green at #8, 2 hours later.
We would have called it quits at the turn if we weren't scoring well. However by then we waited on nearly every tee box and approach and it became a grind.
