About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Golfer Reviews
THE worst course in the entire DMV!!!!
The Marshall is clueless. Be ready for a 20 minute speech on the rules of the game only to not have a single one enforced. He forced me and my playing partner (5 handicap) to tee off from the whites to “ensure fast pace of play”. By hole 3….we were backed up 3 groups to a hole.
The one time we saw him out on the course, we let him know we have been waiting 10-15 minutes on the tee box every hole. He proceeded to assure us we were on time even though our round ended 6 hours total!
Kicker was the group that stomped in our ball on the fringe on 18 and then proceeded to try fighting us after the hole.
Greens and fairways were in terrible shape.
GO PLAY ANYWHERE ELSE! Save your money. This place STINKS!
(105$ for a round: I would have rather played East Potomac)
Pace
Haven’t played this course in a few years. Overall condition was just horrible for the $85 they get from you. Peppered greens and chewed up fairways. Dirt bunkers. They really have a lot of nerve charging that price but that’s Maryland for you. Best part of the day was the 5:45 it took to play. I’ll never be back.
Beautiful course, nice greens
First time playing here and I enjoyed it. The course has a great layout and is very challenging. A few fairways were recently aerated and some areas around a few greens were scraped for new sod, which was fine. It was nice to see all the maintenance going on and monies going into the upkeep and course improvements. Five stars for that for sure. Even the two men cutting grass were working hard and respectful when hitting your shots. It was a great course and a great ball striking day. Rolled in a few birdie putts too !
Poor Customer Service Ruins Everything
Imagine your party is just getting started its 9p and the staff comes to tell you to shut your party down now...you look in disbelief at how insensitive these people are. You ask why...she says you have to be out by 10p. Ok I know that but its not 10p. She says well we need one hour to clean. I ask, "My contract says 10p and there is ZERO clause indicating you need one hour to clean." Now I am just angry. As she proceeds to angry with my sister about shutting down the party with an attitude like we didn't pay every dollar to host our event there, I instantly regret selecting this place and paying $3200 for next to nothing. How dare you speak to your customers this way and how dare you approach us with such coldness. The people here are trash, the place is beautiful but not worth it if you will be treated with such disrespect. We cleaned up in 30 minutes and without kicking our guest out. They left when they were ready and we were out at 10p like we had planned to be. New management needed again or extreme customer service sensitivity training is needed because clearly these people do not know how to run an attractive business. I will not golf and spend a dime in this community ever again. Maybe she didn't like to see our people happy. She should do something about that and not antagonize the customers. What a trash person.
Excellent Course
The course layout is absoluely great. Very challenging with many dog-leg left and elevated greens. Loved the hilly contour
Muddy and Long, but Cheap Midweek Play
The course had been hastily aerated, which in the wet conditions left mud piles everywhere along fairways and green skirts. A group in front of us took 2 hours to get through 6 holes. We breezed through the last 12 holes in 2 hours after playing through. Course was pretty empty, as expected for Wednesday early afternoon. The course was also very long, especially as tee box markers were clustered at farther tees as the course repaired and resodded some closer tee boxes. But the rate was $27 for 18 during the week, and GN coupons made it even cheaper. Ok value for the shape it was in, would’ve been tremendous if the course was in normal shape.
1st Timer
Just relocated to Chesapeake Beach from the southern Oregon Coast. First time playing LP. Awesome experience and will definitely play again shortly. Considering the club’s Player Development Program for $69 per month.
The only reason I selected 4 stars on conditions and pace was because of the time we choose to play (recently after necessary aeration and Thursday evening during league scramble).
I have nothing to gripe about. Staff was super kind and informative as were the follow golfers. I’ll be back soon if not later today.
Very slow
9 min between tee times = 5 hour round, even on weekday mornings. Course conditions not great either, it seems no one fixes ball marks on the green.
Great course , wide fairways
Great course only thing is the fairways are beautiful and wide although right now they don't let you drive the carts on most of the fairways and cart becomes very far from your ball. Sometimes it feels like your hiking climbing the hill to get back to the cart
The worst
Course is completely beat up. Dry dirt patches everywhere. Took my friend there and I was completely embarrassed. He call it the worst he has ever seen. I am inclined to agree. Staff is also the worst. General manager is the least helpful I have ever seen. Got there early for my tee time and even with only 2-3 groups going out per hour, would not let us out earlyy.
Too slow and too many unsuitable fairways
I have played this course many times and typically find it an enjoyable and challenging outing. Today there were two problems: golfers started on the back nine; fine. but by reaching the 10th (first) hole things got totally mired down. This course does only 8 minutes between tee times; probably the fewest in the area and it became impossibly slow (waiting 10-15 minutes for the party in front of you to clear out. We quit after 13 holes.. And they had just aerated some of the the fairways. So for many holes it was almost impossible to find an unencumbered piece of grass from which to hit your shot. At their rates they. need to better on both counts.
Course in Rough Condition
Slow pace of play, 5:15 round. Expensive green fee. Course in rough shape (Fairways look like they hadn't been mowed in a week, dead/patchy areas on and around greens, patchy tee boxes, number of bunkers flooded).
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE
What an awful experience we had at Lake Presidential. We show up for a 10:20 tee time and the starter says there is still two groups ahead of us so we don’t tee off until 25 mins later (which is a joke). Then the round proceeds to take 5:30 mins….just terrible pace of play and they did nothing to improve it and just said “it’s a nice day out and full course.” At one point there were 4 groups on or waiting to play hole 15. The course also costs over $100 is in below average shape with uncut greens and lack of grass around the greens. I’ve played this course 3 times before this one and this will be my last. Staff were jerks too and did not offer any accommodations for the terrible experience. Lake Presidential is officially off my list of tracks.
Outrageous
I’ve been a repeat customer at this course despite the fact that it’s priced way above the actual conditions. Will not be going back after the experience today. We were told that our tee time would be delayed by 15 minutes, which actually ended up being close to 30. The starter accidentally let a group go off the wrong nine and then called them back after had already played two holes. In the meantime he refused to let any of the groups that had arrived for their tee times go off. Once we did get on the course, pace of play was the slowest I’ve ever seen. We had 4 groups on one par 4 more than once. The Marshall came by only to let us know that we should expect a pace of 4 hours and 30 minutes, which was just clearly not true.
One of My Favorites in the DMV
Beautiful, challenging layout at a great value. The course the last time I was out wasn’t in top shape as it usually is, but there were heavy rains earlier in the week so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Still on of the best public tracks in the area.
