The Home Course
About
The Home Course in DuPont is considered one of the best public golf courses in Washington. Throughout the walkable layout, golfers will enjoy scenic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. It's a long course at 7,424 yards from the back tees. The challenging greens play fast and true, and they are complemented by wide fairways with generous landing areas. There are several challenging holes where you'll face strategically placed bunkers and subtle, but tricky elevation changes. The golf course begins with a few open, parkland holes and then it gets more challenging. The seventh hole is one of the toughest, starting from an elevated tee to a green that is neatly tucked behind a lake. The final holes provide stunning mountain views for a memorable finish.

Excellent golfing experience
Have been here for a couple of times. Challenging course with good distance. Nice fairway and green with beautiful view - Mount Rainier as background.
As good as it gets!
Splendid Sunday afternoon... good company... reasonable pace of play... and the course is in great condition with Publinx tourney just ahead.
Love The Home Course
Course was in very good condition, although wetter than we expected - must have rained a lot earlier in the week because it is usually very dry. Greens rolled very well. The two groups in front of us were hunting for lots of balls, but the marshal was responsive and saw that they kept moving.
I hate you Fescue grass
Great course, well kept...just make sure you stay on the fairway.
Fun well manicured links course.
This was a fun course to play. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. What was unexpected was that the greens got slower as the day wore on?! Food service can be a LOT better. The mobile home golf shop and food service booth doesn't give this place justice.
The bunkers were very picturesque. Playing out of some of them can be a challenge. Water comes into play in a couple of holes. So overall, there were nice features to this course.
Challenging but fun course
I always enjoy the Home Course when I am able to make it down. It's in great shape right now. Make sure you practice your putting on the practice green!
Home is where the heart is
I would highly recommend this course. The course is awesome - it is well maintained and if you play well, it is highly rewarding. If you are here for the golf then you will love this place especially at the golfnow discounted rates. Warning - the golf pro shop/offices are in temporary buildings, the toilets are sometimes closed at the turn, the food is meh and sometimes you can be paired with the slowest golfers ever so it can take 6 hours. However the course is lovely!!
Excellent Condition
The Home Course is in fantastic shape. Tough undulating greens guarded by some deep links style bunkers. The layout is very wide open and bad tee shots are still very playable. All in all a very nice course that I wouldn't hesitate to return to.
almost ready for prime time
greens were a little slow but everything else was top notch... tees=A. fairways=B+ rough=A sand=A greens=B... don't expect a clubhouse
Slowest round in five years
I arrived as a single and was paired up with three others. The parking lot was only half full at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday. I was very much looking forward to playing this course and seeing what the hype was all about. Heck, I drove 1 hour and 20 minutes to get here.
Unfortunately, it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to play 9 holes due to the slow play in front of us. We were walking. The foursome in front of us were riding. There wasn't a staff member in site to help with speed of play. At the turn, I asked the staff if something could be done. All I received was a huff and an eye roll and they walked away without even responding. It was then that I decided it was time to call it quits after 9 holes.
Course was in good condition but they couldn't pay me to go back. Rude staff. Extremely slow play. No thanks. There are too many other good options in the Seattle area to waste time at this "could have been" course.
Too slow for mid-week
A great course if only we did not have to wait at least 10 minutes at every tee box. The sad thing was not a marshall in sight. I would love to play it again at a more normal pace.
Great shape for the weather conditions!
With all this rain we are experiencing, this course is in excellent condition! The practice facility is one of the best in the area. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. A definite must play if you're in the Puget Sound area!
Excellent Course
Really enjoy this course. Always well maintained with pristine greens. Rainy and cold but still enjoyed the round, a true sign of a great course.
good day golfing
the course was a little wet in places but for this time of the year we had a good time.
Have a 'blast' on the Home Course
I love the Home course for its beautiful sod-walled bunkers and view of Mount Rainier on a clear summer day, but the journalist in me likes its back story as well.
There is evidence that the site was home to a rudimentary six-hole golf course built in the 1800s around Fort Nisqually, a main trading post and supply center for early U.S. settlers and local Native Americans. One course employee even told me about an eerie experience seeing a strange man wearing old trapper's clothing one morning. A ghost? Maybe.
In 1906, today's DuPont Company built a plant to manufacture explosives on the land. During the transformation into a golf course in 2007, architect Mike Asmundson kept some of the old cement blasting walls by grassing them over and used them as mounds. The dynamite-shaped tee markers are a tribute to this history.
The course already has a nice pedigree. It hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur in conjunction with Chambers Bay.
Great Winter golfing
The course was in great shape. No standing water. No plugged balls. No mud on your shoes. Greens were fabulous as always.
Challenging par 3's. Fun course.
Really couldn't realistically rate the food and beverage because they were closed when we finished.
Fun course to play. Large greens, but put true.
The par 3's are very challenging and probably highlight the golf course.
Best course in south sound
A terrific track. Great staff. Always enjoy a round of golf at the Home course
Great Day
Great course with good views of sound. The carts are old and tired and the pace is slow. Course is in good shape and will be a lot easier the next time I play it (blind holes).
