The Home Course
About
The Home Course in DuPont is considered one of the best public golf courses in Washington. Throughout the walkable layout, golfers will enjoy scenic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. It's a long course at 7,424 yards from the back tees. The challenging greens play fast and true, and they are complemented by wide fairways with generous landing areas. There are several challenging holes where you'll face strategically placed bunkers and subtle, but tricky elevation changes. The golf course begins with a few open, parkland holes and then it gets more challenging. The seventh hole is one of the toughest, starting from an elevated tee to a green that is neatly tucked behind a lake. The final holes provide stunning mountain views for a memorable finish.

Really?
6 hours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 freaking hours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I paid $ 120.00 for 2 with cart no one told us that pace was really backed up. Then we went to the snack trailer to find no one there for 20 minutes. About 4 hours of waiting an eternity between shots we finally ran into a "marshal" When we asked what the heck the holdup was, he curtly said "I would never play here on Sunday" . Stunned I said did you really just say that to a guy who paid 60 bucks for a round of golf? He drove off stirring up an honest to gods wasp nest that swarmed the 8 people sitting at the tee box. I love this course but something seems disconnected at this time. Management can't let the quality of the course be diminished by the pace of play or the staff's relaxed attitude towards customer service
Great course with even better views.
This is one of my favorite courses in western Washington. The greens run fast and true. Plenty of tees for all skill levels. Truly a must play course for golfers and when the wind is blowing the course just gets more interesting. Can't wait to play it again.
Forgiving Fairways, Lots of Blind Shots
I've played several rounds here, but it has been two years since my last. The semi-links style layout agrees with my game; shot my best score of the year as a result. My golf buddy & I usually prefer to hoof it, but with the vast distance between holes and the fast pace of play mandated here, you'll definitely want a cart!
Course is in good shape, well- maintained. There are at least 5 holes requiring one ore more blind shots, so unless you have a Forward Observer, you gotta be cautious.
Staff is friendly & competent. Discounts on greens fees for WSGA/PNWGA members & active duty military. Snack bar is small but mighty!
Bad Greens
The layout was nice, the views were good but it lacked nice greens. I like them fast but not so dry.
There were a lot of dry/hard spots in the fairway too.
I was expecting a the course to be in much better condition,
It was a let down, I will stick to Salish.
Home course not up to Par
For June 22nd the course was VERY DRY. All areas of the course were dry and crunchy. The track is great but the way it played it is in real trouble moving into the summertime.
Beautiful Course, very enjoyable.
Got to play the home course for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent views of Rainier, the puget sound, and the cascade and Olympic mountains. Everything was in great shape.
Great Course!
Totally worth the money and drive. Difficult if you can't reach out or hit it well off the tee. Perfect condition. No bar or restaurant so you need to bring your own after round activities.
Great course
Looks like it might be a simple walk in the park , but just wait til you hit your green. Better bring your A game. Already in great shape for this early in wether golf season.
Greens were Great
Played on a on and off again rainy Sunday. A couple of 10 minute downpours could not soften the putting surface. The course was great, except for a few minor wet collection areas in the low spots of the fairways, but they drained quickly. Great day for driving the ball with a south wind to help the ball along.
Excellent greens, smooth and in great shape
It might have had something to do with the near 60 degree day with no wind in February...but I loved this course. The views of Mt.Rainer and the water are gorgeous. There are a few too many blind shots for my taste, but I am a big baby and that would easily be solved with a few more rounds. The course is a great winter course....the fairways were dry and the greens are outstanding. If it wasn't 2 hours from home I would play this course frequently. We used carts and wished we had walked. It was a cart path only day and it seemed every shot was nowhere near the cart path...this lead to long walks with numerous clubs. There is no clubhouse but an overpriced snack shop... they charged $1.75 for a tiny bag of peanuts. These are minor issues. Overall, a fantastic day of golf.
For the time of year the course is in good condition
Greens were tough because they were recently sanded. Its
understandable for the time of year.
Thin to win (Not)
Course knowledge definitely plays into this links course. Super fast greens and very undulating. You need to know where to miss...and its usually short. The scenery and layout are great. Definitely a must play!
Great time
The course was in great shape for a winter round in Washington. The ball never plugged and there were very few soggy patches through out the whole course. I guess everyone else had the same idea that Saturday was going to be the best day to play a round because the round was a little long. All of the players were patient so the game was enjoyable.
A dry course for late November
Here it is in late November 2012 and Washington was hit with rain (no surprise) over 2.5 inches in some areas. On a whim my son and I decided to play The Home Course before the next storm. We found the course to be dry and playable. Yes there where some soft spots but overall we did not lose any balls hit on the fairway.
We had some nice views of Mt. Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade mountains. The greens played much slower then they usually do but with both the undulating and tiered landscape it was still challenging.
This course is a bit over priced.
Not a good walking course due to some of the tee boxes being stretched to far on the back nine forcing golfers to pay for a riding cart, which is a bit overpriced for this course.
Great Championship Caliber Course
My father an I played this course on a warm august day. After driving through multiple neighborhoods we arrived at the home course. At first look to the left is a gorgeous banquet room where at first I thought was the clubhouse, I was wrong. The snack bar and clubhouse/proshop was 2 portable construction trailers built into a gravel courtyard where the golf carts are stored. For such a hyped up golf club I was rather disappointed. After checking in there was not alot of communication from the staff where the first tee box was. They were drastically understaffed. I felt very rushed getting into and out of the pro shop. Not much of selection of balls, souvenir or apparel. After being initially disappointed the course itself was amazing. The opening hole is not only pretty sweet but history packed as well. To the right side apple trees planted almost 200 years ago by Hudson Bay settelers. On the left side was originally Fort Nisqually and the right side of the green a Native American burial ground. Name a golf course you have ever played with an opening hole with history like that. The entire course has green side bunkers that at any cost should be avoided a couple so deep a 64 is almost a must. I never thought a course in Dupont could have so many views. Mt Rainer and the Sound were gorgeous looking on several holes. # 12 is a tough par 3 that out of pure luck I birdied with 65 foot putt. You absolutely cannot be left or right, the bunkers on either side are so deep you will not see the flag. The course is challenging, scenic and a for sure must play course in the state. It's owned by the WSGA and if your a member with a GHIN you can play for a discounted rate.
