White Wing Golf Club

About
White Wing Golf Club opened its first opened with nine holes in June of 2000, and followed shortly thereafter with the complete package. Often compared to the nearby 1996 Legacy Hills, White Wing isn't quite as long, but is definitely more narrow, lined with massive old oak trees, some of which are located right in the middle of the fairway. Many times even if you pure the tee shot down the middle, you'll be forced to hustle a punch shot under one of these majestic trees.
Billy Casper's design is known for its challenging par 5s, one of which is the signature finishing hole. No. 18 plays downhill into a split fairway, offering a more aggressive shot to the right that must clear Berry Creek at 210 yards out, which gives you the chance to get home in two. If you play it left, you'll need three good shots to get to the green, one of which will involve dealing with one of the huge oaks that looms in the fairway.
White Wing Golf Club's most difficult hole is the par-4 No. 4, which requires an accurate tee shot between fairway bunkers, followed by an approach over a bunker into a multi-level green

Great course
Beautiful course. Very quiet. Temporary greens but great for the cost. Really enjoyed it.
temporary greens
overall would be a super great deal at twice the price, except they are on temporary greens and we did not find out until we arrived to play. Still a nice day, but surprised greens were closed.
The greens have issues
I am not sure what they did to the greens, but it looks like they treated them and now they are all burned up and in rough shape. I hope they can get them back.
Greens need work
The greens had been sanded, but had no grass underneath them. If something drastic doesn't change quickly, it will not be worth playing very soon.
Terrible greens
The course is in terrible condition with the greens being the worst I have ever experienced. No grass, lots of weeds, impossible to putt due to the irregularities of the greens.
Terrible greens
The greens are the worst greens that I have ever played. Save your $$, go somewhere else!
Greens seem to have been lost. Coming along but not up to their standards
The 3 Sun City courses have been very good the last few years. Last time here these greens had little patches of grass that didn't belong all over the greens. They seemed to have put something on them all to kill that weed or whatever type of grass that was. Now they're almost black looking and very dry but soft. Hopefully they get them back because this was one of my favorite courses for a while.
I'm giving recommendation of Yes because of past experiences but definitely wait a few weeks to see if the greens get better.
Tight but fun
The clubhouse staff left a little to be desired. Even though the course was tight, it was playable. The greens were showing a possible future problem with weeds, if not corrected soon it will not be worth playing. Hole18 has 2 fairways that played a little strange.
Tough course. Challenges all parts of your game.
Enjoyed the course. Greens are very challenging on some holes so brush up on your short game.
windy
It was a very windy day and the course was nearly empty at 2pm.
The sand traps where in great shape, I know because I was in a lot of them.
The greens where in good shape.
as I said before the wind made this course play longer.
THE COURSE WAS GOOD TO PLAY FOR FIRST TIME.
OVER THE COURSE WAS A GOOD COURSE FOR PLAYING FOR THE FIRST TIME.
conditions of course outstanding
Staff friendly and very helpful. Had a frost delay but we updated regularly on conditions and start time.
Excellent Value! Fun Course!
Course in good condition (reworking sand traps, so that was a negative) however everything else on the course was excellent. It is a Billy Casper golf course that is fun and challenging. Big greens and several sets of tees give you lots of options. The food and drink area is closed for renovation, however I went over and checked it out and it will be gorgeous when completed. I would give it a 8 out of 10 with the sand traps and closed bar as only negatives and both will be done soon. Plays fast 4 hours with foursome.
Well kept course
Nice course. Nice people. Even with a frost delay pace of play was steady. Will definantely try to get on this course again.
Two guys
We were paired with a Couple of Resident members and they were really nice to play along with giving a little local knowledge helped a bunch. The Weather was great and pace was a little over four and half hours but nothing too slow. A Marshall was available about every 4 holes if we needed anything. the greens were in good shape and I could not have asked for a better round. There was not a cart girl or any real way to buy a beer but that is the only thing I would have like to see and drink.
The 3 courses at Sun City are great.
Course was in great shape. Fairly new carts and super practice facility.
Decent course
Decent course but they didn't do anything about the pace of play. You would think both the marshals and the slow players would let faster players through.
Good course
I showed up an hour early to use the range only to find out it was closed to prepare for a demo day. Not sure how a range needs to be prepped for a demo day, but noticed it was open when I finished my round. There was absolutely zero organization with the starting tee times. I had a 1:03 tee time, checked in around 12:00 and told the clubhouse that I'd be in the practice area. Around 12:45 I see a single driving to the first tee, so I check in with the clubhouse to see where the rest of my group is as they said I'd be paired with 3 others. They say go ahead and go off with the guy that was heading toward #1. He's already on #1 green by time I reach the tee box. I catch him on #4 green and pair up. A marshall drives up on #8 and asks us why we're in separate carts. We finish #9, drop a cart off and head to #10. A pair of ladies are about to tee off. Where the heck did they come from. We were playing behind a threesome and these two just show up. We played the front 9 in about 1.5 hours. The back was not so fast though as most of the time we were waiting 2-3 minutes between shots. This course needs to get more organized.
Good course but very slow pace.
Great shape, both fairways and greens. Thought it played easier than the 131 slope on the scorecard (blue tees). Enjoyed the course, just too slow - I quit after 9 holes. Outstanding value for the money, however, and I'll play it again another day.
Fun course and great condition!
One of my favorite I've played around central TX. Really fun holes, the greens are nice, big, and sloping. (Made the putting more challenging!) Great conditions from tee box to greens. I will play the Gold Now deals on this course as much as I can.
