Island Green Photo submitted by earache8 on 10/05/2012
I’ll come back
Beautiful day. Course ran well. Staff was excellent. Enjoyable meal afterward.
The course has a great layout
The golf course is fun and challenging. The layout is wonderful. There were more than average rains in that area. The day we play the fairways are very wet. But the greens are fantastic.
But the staff and members are not friendly to Golfnow players.
My tee time is 11:51, but they put me into 11:46 to make it a foursome. The group behind us are twosome. We were in a rush.
Pristine Conditions!
Playing Arrowood today was like playing pristine professional style conditions!
Yes, there was rain, yes even some hail, but we waited out the worst of each of these and had an absolute blast! You’d think the greens would be slow because I’d the wet weather, but no, they were running super fast!
The staff is always so helpful and a pleasure to visit with before and after our round. Tom greeted us today and from that moment on my sons and I had a wonderful golf experience today. We’ll be back again real soon!
A Players Course Hidden in an Oceanside Community
Arrowood is a challenging course that throws a lot of variety at you with its superb layout. It features tons of elevation changes and each green offers it’s own unique challenges.
Green speeds were fast the day we played and were posted along with pin positions on the first tee. Good thing, because designer Ted Robinson, Jr. asks you to think a little bit when playing this course ... especially on your approach to the greens.
The last 4 hole on this course are stand out and a wonderful way to finish the day. I love hole 16 which features a beautiful island green lined with bunkers in the back and one sneaky mini-bunker up front. It’s a hole that requires great distance control on both off the the tee and approaching the green.
All staff we met during our rounds were friendly, and knowledgeable about the course and seemed excited to talk about the layout. The small cafe has a wonderful feeling at sunset, and is a perfect place to wind down after your round with a cold beer and some delicious pub fare.
To sum up, I love this course. From the people to the practice area, to the unforgiving layout ... it’s a “players course” and among my favorites in Southern California.
Very green in nice condition.
Challenging golf course in Oceanside. Very nice layout. Fairways and greens in top condition. Good Club facilities. Staff very friendly.
Great course
This is one of my favorite courses around San Diego. The carts have some great features including screens that show your position and distance. The new bar is nice and fun. The course has a nice flow to it and offers some very interesting challenges that you can't find on other courses of the same value. Definitely recommend to anyone coming though or living in the area.
Fun and Challenging
This is a fun but very challenging course. A lot of imagination is needed.
Great course
All good, except they need a marshall. We were 4 - 3 ahead of us were 2 holes behind because they ball hawked all day. Before they left in their $100,000 Tesla, I offered them some balls because they were focused on finding balls.
Challenging but enjoyable
Excellent layout. Try to start early in the winter because sunset comes early. The course is quite hilly. Unfortunately large areas are limited to walking only. This certainly slows the pace when one golfer on the card has gone left and the other has gone to the right. Also you should get your water early because the only cups are in the bar.
Fun course with terrible pace of play
Play here on a semi regular/monthly basis as it's a great value and good time but this round was painfully slow, close to 5 hours. Slow play ruins any round and it's not fun for anyone. No marshalls on the course and when the time was mentioned to the pro shop they gave the standard answer that stated pace is 4 hours and 25 minutes and we weren't that much slower which I complately disagree with but oh well.....
Great Track
I think they offer a great value for the money. It’s a fun and challenging track that doesn’t seem to get old no matter how many times you play. My only complaint would be POP. Normally it’s pretty good. I’ve had 3:25 rounds here and 5:45 rounds here. I’d like to see them do a little more to keep it moving.
Very good layout, in a beautiful setting!
Be prepared to be challenged, especially the last three holes! Really nice course, pay attention to the scorecard as there is a mix of tees you can play. For example you can play the 9 tougher holes from one tee closer and nine easiest from one tee back.
Tee shots
Drive the ball straight and avoid all the hazards and the course plays rather easy but if you don’t even play very difficult courses in fair condition overall greens hold well fairways are very thin sand traps are horrible everyone is different
Great layout and condition
Well maintained and great layout for all levels of player. Friendly staff and nice practice facilities
