Colorado National Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,579 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Greens not good
I have played this course once before and the greens were excellent. While I understand that in Mid-March, they won't be great, these greens were bumpy and infected with a mixture of grasses that made for an awful putting experience. In addition, despite the course being dry, it was cart path only, which made for a 5 hour round, despite the course being only moderately full on a Monday afternoon. We waited on nearly every shot for 18 holes.
This course has amazing views!
Not only is the course challenging for your beginner or advanced golfer. It has views that are well worth the price of green fees. Carts have gps in them and very easy to use. One of the best courses to play in Colorado.
Good looking layout
Played in February. Course was in good condition for the winter season. Can't wait to play it this summer.
Great scenery
Course was in reasonably good shape considering it was rhe middle of January (rarely an opportunity to be open for four days this time of year). Love the layout.
Pace of play too slow
Due to the very deliberate play of a foursome two groups ahead of us and the cart path only rule that was in effect the pace of play was agonizingly slow - taking over 5 hours to complete 18. Course conditions were typical for mid January with greens being on the rough side and bunkers were either wet, frozen or not raked. However it was still a great day just to be able to play a round of golf in January.
Beautiful Public Course
The layout is challenging, the location is stunning. Excellent gps carts and very well maintained.
Winter golf
Course was in great shape for the end of December. Would definitely play again.
A good challenge and a fun course
It won't be the best course you've ever pl;ayed but it's worth $50.00 and no more.
Greens
The course layout is awesome. As far as the GREENS, HORRIBLE! I'm not sure what they charge on a daily basis but it's not worth paying for. Please fix the greens.
Lovely course, but slooooooow
The course was in great shape except for the greens (which had been aerated not too long ago). And even the greens were on their way back. The pace of play was terrible. At one point there were 4 groups on the same par five and another 2 waiting at the tee, despite several of the groups being two and threesomes. Never saw a marshall or anyone else who might get things moving. The golf carts have those annoying restrictions on them that stop the cart if you go in certain areas. I get they don't want you driving in native grasses and such, but sometimes just getting into the first cut of rough would make the cart stop. Not calibrated correctly or something. Overall, I like this course, but yesterday was a pretty frustrating round.
This course has good features
The greens were in poor shape after being aireated a few weeks ago. Did not use the restaurant
waste of a wonderful course
The golf course is absolutely spectacular. Not really for beginners except for the front tees. Course conditions and the view were among the best I've played. But the experience was somewhat wasted starting at the clubhouse. The kid at the desk acted more like a checkout clerk than a pro shop employee and didn't seem to care that we were even there. When we got backed up at 7, we never saw a marshal to speed up play in front of us so we sat a lot between holes and the people on the 2 hole we could see in front of us were not the hold up. Then Boulder politics reared its head. If you cart gets within 10 feet of the "native grasses: the cart voice tells you that you are IN them and forces you to back up to get out. The grounds crew seems a bit miffed to have to stop for you and sometimes they just don't. All in all a waste of our time at a truly great course.
Fall fun
Even though we played the front 9 twice we really enjoyed our golf outing. Great price gtpm golf now. Highly recommend giving it a try!
surprise!
Made a GolfNow tee time at Colorado National where I have played numerous times with great satisfaction. Unfortunately this time was not as good. When I showed up, I was told they are only playing the front 9 and the greens have recently been plugged. I understand this is the season for aerating greens in this part of the country. The rate paid I felt was a bit too high for the conditions I was presented. The back 9 at Colorado National is one of the main drawing points of this course. With that closed, and the conditions not optimal, I felt a bit cheated. The rest of the course is in great shape and will be playing great again once the greens return.
Beautiful course with great views
Fairways in great shape for season, but greens were a little thin and fast.
Greens a challenge to read.
Nice course for someplace new to me.
Was running close to tee time and called in and pro shop slid my time back 15 mins without any hassle
Good course decent value
Had a frost delay in morning which pushed everything back. Had an hour delay before we played really slow need rangers on the course
Always Slow. Always.
Used to play here very regularly and shyed away because of the pace of play. Gave it another shot yesterday and took 2:45 for the front 9. Their tee times run every 9 minutes and should run every 11 or 12. I've never seen a Marshall on the course to help. I like the track but it's not worth it for a 6 hour round of golf.
Great round
Birthday round. Weather was coming in so the course was empty. We had a blast. Advice: only play from the tips if you average 300+ drives. long course.
Great Day, Great Weather, Great Course, however....
Paired up with a twosome including member that brought their child (3-5 yr old). The starter and marshals were well aware of the situation to which they expressed no opposition.
While the child was well behaved, he was still a distraction as he had his own little clubs and would hit a ball around the greens or attempt putting. I was looking forward to playing this course as I had only previously played in tournament format. This is not the golf experience I was looking forward to with my wife paying $124 for a round. We raised our children exposed them to the game through proper golf channels and always and have no problem playing with well behaved young adults comprising a proper foursome.
Slow...
Nice track. Good layout. Great views of mtns. However, be ready to spend 5+ hrs on this course. Have played 3 times, each round above 5hrs. They do not have a marshall on the course, nor do they seem to care about pace of play. Greens and traps only average at best; they need some work. Should be in much better of condition for a course that has C.U. playing it as its home course. Play it if you get a good deal and have 5hrs.
