Colorado National Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,676 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Excellent Course
very slow play, but otherwise a great course to play.
Must Play
I've payed this course several times..I think it's one of the best in the area.
Not worth the drive
I traveled an hour to Erie to play Colorado National. The pace of play was way too slow with little or no marshals. The greens were in horrible condition. The worst I have played on all year in the Metro area. I think it could be a nice course if it was kept up better.
Pretty challenge, Amazing views!
This course is a long one. Greens were the fastest I've ever experienced ever! Wow...they played like concrete! Course is in good condition, and poses a nice challenge. Absolutely stunning views on a clear day! Plays a little slow, fairways are tight. Did I mention it's a beautiful course?
Great Course, Bad Conditions
Played here on a typical Colorado spring day, which means you never really know what the weather is going to do. We planned on playing 18, however, the weather thought otherwise and stopped us after 4 due to lightning and heavy rain. The course itself is great and challenging, however, the course conditions were a little rough. The second hole brought difficulty when a great tee-shot was ruined by extensive rough patches in the fairway, I expect better from a course of this caliber. Overall however the pace of play was a good and would have offered a great round at a great price, especially since we were playing twilight hours.
Great Playing Time
This was my second time playing this course and is now one of my favorites. The scenery adds to the overall experience. Will be a regular at this course. You'll have to find some deals as this course may get expensive, but for what you get its a good tradeoff.
39 bucks
We thought we were getting a deal but by the end of the day, we may have paid too much. The greens were in terrible condition. The staff is rude and just doesn't care to help you.
We played Indian Peaks earlier in the day and it beats Colorado National in every way. It is a little embarrassing that this is a division 1 school's golf course....
Good and bad
I've played this course several times over the past four years. The quality of the experience has decreased every year.
Negatives:
- Our tee time was schedule for 1:57. We didn't tee off until 2:15.
- Tee times are schedule about 8 minutes apart.
- Typical cranky starter who let's 100+ golfers tee off from 7,000+ yrd tee boxes.
- No one repairs their divots
- Greens are in TERRIBLE shape. Full of "cauliflower" spots. Your golf ball will have a bumpy ride.
- Rough is not trimmed as it should be. Pretty messy off the fairway.
- We finished at 7:45 pm. (5+ hours, almost 6)
- Hard, packed sand in bunkers
Pros:
- Nice views.
Overall, the quality of CO National has declined. It's sad because it used to be a good course. Now it plays very slow and the greens are in terrible condition. Fairways aren't much better, although they do resemble what you think a fairway would look like.
Lil Harder than I remembered
This is a really nice course and pretty challenging but fun. Can be intimidating with all the nice house surrounding the course, especially if you got a big slice like my buddy. Few holes with water but nothing to bad. They did have one little pond and some people were swimming and making a lot of noice during our putting other than that it was a fun day. This course is kinda long too. I was disappointed that the only chipping bunker was for members only. That was my other problem a lot of members only signs, didn't fell very welcomed. They have grass driving range which was nice a decent putting green. Carts are GPS so don't go out of range or you loose power and have to go in reverse. They come with coolers but you have to take it in to get ice, other courses already have them filled with Ice and water.
Over all I like this course to play every once in a while when there's a good special but it's a lil far to play everyday.
Great value, pace of play and conditions.
This was my first time playing CO national. The facilities are fantastic and views are amazing. On top of that, the conditions are excellent right now.
Memorial Day
Very long round of golf. Tee times were spaced out about every 10 minutes. Course ran out of carts. Driving range is beat up.
Other than waiting on every hole. The course was not in bad condition. The greens were very hard, and are riddled with cauliflower spots.
What happen to this course
Well this is the first course i have ever played that when one of the foursome had to cancel they charged me for his round, the green and some of the fairways are in very bad shape. I have played here many time, but wont be back. the pro shop staff has always been rude but they are much worse now than they have ever been. had a Marshall tell us we where behind, worst part we where waiting on every shoot for the group in front of us who just happen to be members
Great Course, Better Value
I found this course for $39, 18 holes with cart. Course was in great shape, good golf holes. Overall the best value I've had around Denver.
Panoramic Views
The course has good layout with panaromic views of the mountains to the west. It is laid out thru residential neighhoods with lots of open space. Fairways and greens were in great condittion. Holes are challenging, but fair. If in the Broomfield and Boulder CO area , this would be a good choice.
Good Course / Bad Condition
Usually one of my favorite courses in the Denver area but the course is in poor condition at the moment, fairways are hit or miss and almost all of the greens were very dry and bumpy, atypical from usual.
Golf course is in very good shape
Will let you keep coming back and I recommend to friends playing it.
GPS Saved the Day, but also almost ruined it
The in-cart GPS was excellent, save for one feature. The robot is able to shut down the cart and tell you to reverse from the area. This would be fine, if it didn't have a super loud reverse beep that goes on for a minute or two as you leave the "area."
Other than that, my day was perfect. The greens were perfect, the fairways beautiful, and the tee boxes were fresh and level.
Gem of a course
This course is EXACTLY what golf should be. Don't know what to say other than that. It's beautiful, challenging (but VERY playable) and the course definitely has it's own character.
10/10 would play again.
Horrendous Pace of Play
This course is one of the nicer courses in the Denver metro area and the golfnow deals are always good. The course itself is one of my favorites, but I have literally had to stop playing here due to the fact that the pace of play is horrific. It is so unbelievably slow and there is never a marshall keeping up the pace. I have played rds close to 6 hours here which is just absurd. Great course, but the pace of play pretty much negates the value. I play Thorncreek and the Broadlands now because the pace of play is sooooo much better and the quality of the courses is comparable.
Co National
Well designed course. Fairways were a little barren but it's early. The sand is very course and green side bunkers are especially challenging.
Gorgeous mountain views. The housing built around the course is a bit ugly in places but overall beautiful track.
