Auchmill Golf Course

About
Offering inspiring views of Aberdeen and Aberdeen Airport, Auchmill Golf Club is a municipal golf course with a world-class pedigree. Originally built in the early 1970s as a nine-hole course and later extended to a full 18, Auchmill was designed by the triumvirate of Brian Hugget, Neil Coles and Roger Dyer, meaning the course was laid out with the experience of a top golf course architect (Dyer), a former Ryder Club player (Coles) and a known British pro (Hugget).
Auchmill was designed to take advantage of its unique topography, meaning golfers will be challenged by a variety of lies andinteresting hole placements. Four par 5s will have long hitters reaching for their big guns, while tricky par 3s and challenging par 4s will have golfers of all levels working to put down a good score.
This wooded parkland course that plays to nearly 6,000 yards will not just give you interesting holes that are aptly and cunningly named - like "The Frog" and "The Quarry" - but it will also give players a great golfing experience for their money. With green fees ranging from £15 to £20, Auchmill Golf Club offers golfers a great golfing experience without denting their wallet.

Just off the 4th tee “very nice” NOT Photo submitted by Steve5755845 on 08/09/2020
Hilly!
This course was definitely a challenge for a noob like myself. With fairways sloping to one side on a few of the holes and fast fairways at that it was very easy to bounce or run the ball into the rough on the lower sides. Accuracy requirements is definitely prevailing over long hits on a few holes too, especially the 9th with a right angled turn in the middle and very tall trees on either side.
5 ball?
My round of golf took 5 hours which should really on take 3 to 4 hours maximum!
This was because 2 x 5 balls in front of us drinking beer and being very loud. Not once did we get asked if we wanted to play through.
Who actually allows 5 people to play together never mind back to back.
Spoilt my experience as iv played here a few times and enjoy the course.
This needs to be addressed as there was 4 other people behind us also waiting, some of them actually walked off!
Not good enough
An exciting and tough wee course
The course is in good condition but boy if your not tight OR are a big hitter, tighten up and don’t try to cream it all the time. Those extra par saves on the front nine will help you on the tougher “card killler” back nine. All in all a great day but watch the back 9. Thanks to John and Wayne for showing us around the course when we joined your two ball on the 4th.
Mike
Local course, superb location and some very challenging holes especially when windy. Brilliant place and will definitely be back soon.
Great course
Course just lacks a bit.. tee box’s aren’t great and fairways need cut. Other than that great course for a chap.
Very disappointed in cindituon of all greens, I played it early last year and thought it was in good condition then. This could be down to COViD restrictions but needs a lot of work
Very good layout
Tree lined but generous fairways. Great views over the North of the city.
The layout is one of the best I have played, some elevation changes and a good variety of shots.
Poor value for money
I paid on Golf Pass £32 for a 2 ball on a course that I later found out it’s green fees were £10pp so would have been £20 for my 2 ball round. In addition four of the holes were completely closed! So I essentially paid £16pp to play 14holes of golf. Disgusted that golf pass charge more for tee times (and that is not including the £2 they add on) than the club itself. What a waste. Highly disappointed in Golf Pass. Equally the greens were all winter greens (to be expected) but there was no attempt it seemed to cut the grass around the winter greens at all. Also temporary tees are not laid out well at all and in places hard too even find.
pleasantly surprised
I hadn't played at Auchmill for quite a while and never had played it in winter set up and was pleasantly surprised, I will definitely have to get back in the summer months and fully enjoy the excellent course layout.
Lovely course with some challanging holes.
I have played here a few times and always found it to be a great course in great condition.
