Westhill Golf Club

About
One of the newer courses in a land of golf courses that are over a century in age, Westhill Golf Club still brings three decades of experience to the plush Aberdeen golf scene. Built in 1977, Westhill quickly earned a reputation as a quality place to play golf and a great option for those looking to make the most of their Scotland golf vacation package.
Westhill Golf Club is an 18-hole run that plays to nearly 6,000 yards and a par of 69. Water, well-placed bunkers and challenging greens make the course a stiff test for even low handicappers. Well-maintained fairways and mature trees only help add to the allure of this course that sits less than 10 miles from Aberdeen.
And while the golf will keep a player challenged, Westhill also has what so many other Scotland golf courses present - spectacular scenery. Your companion during the round will include stunning views of the surrounding countryside and Royal Deeside, as well as the Grampian Mountains and Mount Keen.

Westhill Day out
Very mixed layout of holes which was very enjoyable. Unfortunately the greens had been hard tined & were virtually unplayable which spoiled the day for us. Course itself was very good. Would certainly recommend it to others to play especially when greens regrow.
Just a walk in the park
Everyone i encountered from the moment i arrived where all friendly and courteous. As the name suggests the course is very hilly and a bit of a slog. My one complaint is i found every green to be a different pace, some slow some fast.
Amazing views
Nice view over westhill the course could do with some tlc can see it is struggling financially but overall lovely course and nice challenge
Nice course not for me
The course has some interesting holes to keep you entertained. Long course with the back 9 on quite a side sloped hill which makes it hard on the feet.
Strange with no pro shop and going into the office feels like you’re intruding. I always buy a drink and a snack at every course for the bag. The office was cramped and felt like I was in the wrong place. The fridge wasn’t well stocked and the drinks were not cold. I didn’t know where to get a scorecard and pencil etc. The ladies on the office were all nice though and I asked about snacks so was taken through to the bar.
The course is not well signposted and for visitors I had no clue where the first tee was and the staff didn’t tell me the 4th green was closed and I would be playing onto a makeshift hole on the 18th green. Luckily a member told me when I asked where the first tee was. Multiple holes we were struggling where to go for the next. £26 may be a good price on this course but not compared to others on golf now
Poor course for visitors
This course has the potential to be amazing but seems badly run and poorly maintained. We were a little lost on where to go to check in, with the only sign of life being inside an office in the clubhouse. The guy we found was very friendly but no clear sign of anywhere to check in or any sort of pro shop or concessions desk. Once on the tee (it’s a steep hike up to it!) the first 3 holes are cracking holes and it was shaping up to be a good round. Then hole 4 came. The poor signposting to the 4th tee meant we spent a while walking-not sure where to go as the tee is not near the 3rd green. Played our shot down to find what looked like a green but was GUR and no flag in it. Picked up as couldn’t clearly see another green only to later discover that the 4th green is further over a footpath and a shared green with 18. This is not clear at all and wasn’t mentioned when we checked in. The 5th tee is also poorly signposted and a long way from where you might expect it to be. The next few holes were all fairly straightforward however signage is poor quality and mainly arrows either spray painted onto trees or the ground. On the 7th hole we were playing while the greens staff were cutting nearby and they made no effort to avoid us and allow us to continue play, even infact shouting over to us to move while one of us was mid swing. We got to the 9th tee and it is shared with the 18th and again is very unclear where you are playing due to poor signposting. Overall the course is challenging with many raised greens and sloping fairways which made it enjoyable once you got over the frustration of the poor signage and lack of understanding of where to play. Would we play again? We probably would now we know where we are going (the views are absolutely fantastic!) however it’s clear to see why this course is having trouble staying afloat. Pace of play was amazing as we barely saw anyone apart from dog walkers for the whole round. This course has the potential to be a great course, it’s frustrating to see the basics going wrong though.
Disappointing round
Winter golf aside, £20 for only 14 holes of golf (most winter greens). Course was saturated (not really in playable condition on some holes). No staff, luckily a member showed us where to go. Disappointing game.
Great course with remarkable views
This is a challenging course yet forgiving. Pairs with some driveable par 4s and amazing views it really is a fun course to play.
Sandy greens
No mention of greens being aerated prior to booking and paying for the round, nor at time of checkin. Reached 13th green and met the green keeper who proceeded to spray sand across this green and all remaining greens. Not what you expect when paying £40 for a round on a very average course.
Having been a member at westhill for several years up until recently I was very familiar with the course. Always in good condition at this time of year.
I was disappointed by some of the tee boxes and the amount of divots. Also the bins on the course were very full and there was no water in any of the ball cleaners on the course.
However these are small details that didn’t detract from a very enjoyable round, with some of the best views of the countryside on a very nice golf course.
Stunning Weather and fantastic greens
Decided to play Westhill as a friend had not played it before.
Could not have picked a better day.
Course was in great shape with really fast greens.
Not a long course on the scorecard but don’t let that fool you.
Some tricky holes and greens are not easy to read.
Stunning views from almost every hole you play.
A challenge if never played before
Nice course, not ideal for visitors as had to figure out where next tee was on a few holes. Greens were in good condition. Didn’t meet any staff or have food so couldn’t comment on that. Got for a deal of £18 per person so was good value for money.
Quirky Little Course.
The course set up is particularly quirky and not the most obvious course layout. The conditions were awful when I played although this because the weather and not the staff. Think I’ll return in better weather as the course might feel a lot different then. Agree with previous comment not really set up for visitors.
Excellent
Course in great condition, one blip on hole 4 where we missed signs for temp green.
Fairways very good and greens excellent, very friendly members and staff.
