Great Value
Played after a couple of days of rain. Not as wet as in previous years. They had just plugged the greens, and were actually in pretty good condition. Pace of play a little slow, (men).
Tumwater Valley
Course was wet and soggy pools of water in the fairways . I lost four balls in the middle of the fairway due to plugged ball
Greens were good
Great Deals for a Good course.
The Memebership is unbeatable! The Putting and Chipping Area is Pretty good During the Summer, When the Washington Grass isn't sloppy... Great Dinning, Food, and Entertainment!
The course Isn't my favorite, Its pretty long course, For those of us who don't hit very Far. During the Summer it is great, But if it has a Typical Washington weather Rain, The Fairways are Sloppy and take some skill to play on. But Don't have to worry about houses, Unlike most Courses in Washington, Which is a plus!
Great value for the money
Man at the desk was super nice and accommodating. Told us which holes needed our attention to hit balls in best position. This later proved to be very helpful. We played just after a wind storm so some branches were on some holes that had not been cleaned up yet. They were on the course taking care of problem. Fairway was a little soft but that was expected. Pace of play was 3 hour and 10 minutes. Just right for walking.
Very nice layout.
I have played this course a few years ago and was not happy with the condition of this course. The fairways were extremely wet with very poor drainage. The rough was very, very deep, not well kept at all. However, this time it seemed like the course had gone through some major improvements. Seemed well maintained and a nice place to play, plus the great deal from GolfNow made this a great value.
Play slow and conditions wet.
Regional High school tournament preceded us resulting in a very slow pace. Course conditions wet with restrictions in place. Cart path golf already. Due to very discounted fees on golfnow we may play one more round here before winter really sets in. Leaves are turning and the views are lovely.
great value
Staff is very friendly and course the right mix of challenges. Will definitely play again and again.
Excellent Affordable Public Course
A good walking course for the intermediate golfer. Challenging fairways with areas of trees and water that require good course management. An experienced and friendly staff understand golfers well. A heritage golf course that has matured well.

Nice but too wet.
Although I played this course at the driest time of our year this course was still wet and damp underfoot in too many places.
The greens were soft although some showed signs of burn out by our dry weather... but the course played longer than you would expect due to the wet conditions.
If they water their fairways they water too much.
If the dampness was natural because of the valley condition they need to provide better drainage.
This course needs a little help with the ground keeping
Grounds keeping needs help especially the greens, the staff is great and the overall course is good
Tumwater Valley
Pretty nice course but is showing signs of overplay. The course was packed when I was out there. Some fairways were so chewed up from divot marks that it was not an advantage to hit fairway.
Challenging 18-holes. I would take a look at the course map before playing. There were holes that I had no clue had water(river) on the sides of them.
Overall, Great to play on a summer afternoon and for the cost you can't beat it.
Tumwater Valley has it all.
If you want a birdie/eagle opportunity on each hole, then this is the course for you. Depending upon the USGA suggestion of move it forward, a player from the correct tees can score and have fun, even with a mis hit here and there. The other players were cordial and well mannered. This course may be long, have water and sand but is well worth the value for the money if you are there for "fun". I like courses where we can find our ball because the rough is trimmed. Greens are quick and smooth.
Check it out; you could have the time of your life.
Beautiful Setting
Too many on the course at one time. Marshall didn't seem to do anything but drive around. At one time we had Three groups waiting to play on the 16th hole.
Mediocre experience
The grass is dried up in a lot of areas off the fairway, never thought I'd say this of Tumwater Valley but it looks like it could use some water. The greens are in fair shape, rolling at about a 9 but most greens have bald patches of dead grass around the fringes. As long as your hitting the middle of the greens you won't have to putt through them. The pace of play is decent, my buddy and I just happened to get stuck behind a rather slow threesome on the back nine, other than that everyone was playing at a fair clip.
Long and boring
The staff was the only highlight of the day. They were all super friendly and accommodating and the beer cart girls were smoking hot and friendly. It all started to go downhill when we checked in about 1 hour prior to tee time and there were no carts available. From there, we walked a long slow playing golf course for about 3 hours per side. The course itself plays nice. Fairways and greens were well kept. Overall an easy layout. There are two par 3's with 2 tee boxes and two greens each so you can decide which to play, long or short. If I do come back it will probably be to sit at the bar and chill rather than golf.
Nice enough, close enough.
The fairways are always well kept. The greens are usually in good shape, but yesterday they were lumpy, sluggish and unpredictable and not fun to putt on at all. The pace of play can be a tad slow at times––and it was yesterday, but I'd expect that at most public courses under $30 on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Overall, Tumwater Valley offers an affordable and enjoyable round of golf amidst trees and nature instead of houses. Can't ask for much more.
Pretty course, good challenge.
I had never played Tumwater but found a weekend deal and came away pleasantly surprised. Friends had told me the knock on the course was being soggy in the winter and I found a few wet spots still in July. The difference to me was the narrower fairways and my slightly sprayed drives repeatedly found the two inch first cut and some thick grass to work itself into. It was a good challenge and once I found the greens, the putting was even and true. I very much enjoyed the surrounding greenery, ponds and trees and the total lack of fairway homes. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Local, well maintained.
The Valley is a solid, challenging course. Lots of natural features and beauty. Does not drain well in the winter.
Good greens, inexpensive round
We played mid morning. It was wide open until about the sixth hole then we ran into the women's club and it slowed considerably. We still finished in four hours. The course was in good shape and the greens rolled true and fast. Tumwater Valley is pretty wide open with hardly any bunkers. The length is decent. There is also a nice bar/restaurant.
