Long and boring
The staff was the only highlight of the day. They were all super friendly and accommodating and the beer cart girls were smoking hot and friendly. It all started to go downhill when we checked in about 1 hour prior to tee time and there were no carts available. From there, we walked a long slow playing golf course for about 3 hours per side. The course itself plays nice. Fairways and greens were well kept. Overall an easy layout. There are two par 3's with 2 tee boxes and two greens each so you can decide which to play, long or short. If I do come back it will probably be to sit at the bar and chill rather than golf.
Nice enough, close enough.
The fairways are always well kept. The greens are usually in good shape, but yesterday they were lumpy, sluggish and unpredictable and not fun to putt on at all. The pace of play can be a tad slow at times––and it was yesterday, but I'd expect that at most public courses under $30 on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Overall, Tumwater Valley offers an affordable and enjoyable round of golf amidst trees and nature instead of houses. Can't ask for much more.
Pretty course, good challenge.
I had never played Tumwater but found a weekend deal and came away pleasantly surprised. Friends had told me the knock on the course was being soggy in the winter and I found a few wet spots still in July. The difference to me was the narrower fairways and my slightly sprayed drives repeatedly found the two inch first cut and some thick grass to work itself into. It was a good challenge and once I found the greens, the putting was even and true. I very much enjoyed the surrounding greenery, ponds and trees and the total lack of fairway homes. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Local, well maintained.
The Valley is a solid, challenging course. Lots of natural features and beauty. Does not drain well in the winter.
Good greens, inexpensive round
We played mid morning. It was wide open until about the sixth hole then we ran into the women's club and it slowed considerably. We still finished in four hours. The course was in good shape and the greens rolled true and fast. Tumwater Valley is pretty wide open with hardly any bunkers. The length is decent. There is also a nice bar/restaurant.
Staff with attitude, 30min delayed tee time, no marshal to address super slow pace
1. Over-booked people that caused 30 min delayed tee-off
2. Staff with attitude saying that they can't help golfnow customers
3. No marshal on the course at all to monitor and address super slow pace - 5 teams of foursome were at the same hole at one point!!
Never coming back to this course, just not worth it!!
Great course for all levels of golfers
Great day on a nice course. Back nine is more
Of a challenge than front nine.
Really good place!
The people in the pro shop were very nice. The pace of play was comfortable, didn't have to wait much at all. The cart girl was friendly and attentive, as were the staff in the restaurant. We'll definitely be coming back!
Challenging course because of rough and pin placements
Rough was tough to get out of, so you better stay in fairway. Whoever set the pin placements sure liked the sides, were usually about 5 paces from edge and never in or close to middle of green. When a course is set up this tough they should expect 5+ hour rounds.
Mediocre
Great staff. Tee boxes and greens in great shape. Numerous areas of fairways and rough soggy wet. Several holes require well placed shots otherwise you find yourself behind a tree. Par threes are medium to long. Good deep sand in the bunkers, not just a couple inches and then packed hard. If they could ever resolve the drainage problems in some areas this course would be much better.
Great muni
This course is very playable and offers good risk-reward.
Fun track for the money. Could use some attention to detail with grooming but , again, it's a good muni!!
very nice course with a good layout
I liked the course very much. It was in great shape and uncrowded the end of April when we played. Our golfnow rate made this a reasonable price for this course.
The course was in pretty good shape for early in the season
The staff was excellent....and the greens were in good shape.....Tumwater valley does not winter well...so, it takes a few months for the fairways and grass around the greens to be nice....but, overall a great value....
greens and fairways where well maintained, and there are several tee boxes to either play it forward or challenge oneself.
The weather man let me down more today than the course. Rain came from nowhere.
Nice relaxing day golfing. Ts and greens recently plugged so a bit rough but will be better in a couple weeks.
We took 5 hours due mostly to our group skill level.
good time
nice course, good for all ranges of play. They've come a long way in fixing their drainage problems from years past
Good course for the beginning or trying to improve weekend golfer.
Good course for us 14-18 hanicappers! Open fairways and easy approaches to big greens. Hazards are not severe. I was surprised how dry the course was considering it was February and it is the Pacific NW. Does tend to get crowded in the summer.
This course was in great condition for the rainy season
We showed a little early for our tee time and the staff said that we could start on ten, but we decided to get a bite to eat in the resturaunt before starting our round. This was a great breakfast with great hospitality. All in all we had a wonderful day of golf in a great location along the river.
Flat course. Easy to walk
The course was soft because of recent rain so it would not be a goodwwinter course.
Great location and hardly ever crowded. Back nine is more interesting while the front nine is typical.
I played with my brother over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. The service was friendly and the carts seemed brand new. There is a blow dryer you can use to dry off your clubs at the end of the day. I will come back and golf whenever I'm back in town visiting family!
