They didn't have enough carts. Tee off 30 after our tee time. It happen twice now. They need to learn to tee foursomes 10 minutes apart not 5.
Local Knowledge Required
La Mirada, overall, was a nice track.
Pros:
Tougher than the slope indicated You need to play this several times to be comfortable with shot placements and lines.
Greens were small, but rolled nicely and the breaks are tricky.
Price was fair.
Cons:
The rough is too long. Balls disappear easily. This leads to slow play, along with the number of par threes.
The bunkers are inconsistent with the sand/dirt/mud.
I will be back, but prepared for the 5.5-6hr round.
Stupid staff!
Met Reagan (assistant manager) also!
One hour delay tee up!
Nobody say sorry!
Good golf
Good golf for the money. Rough was a little thick. Bunkers could use some care. 5 hours for a round. One of the better courses in my area so I will be back.
Decent muni course, but terribly slow.
See above. Also chain smokers everywhere. Took over 3 hours for first 9. Staff was super friendly. Just slow pace of play. Would play again maybe on a week day?
Fivesomes almost every other group. Some 5some groups were all walkers! 6.5 hour round
Great course
Really cool course with all the different slopes and hillsides , bunkers were very soft . Grass was perfect and the roughs were very rough. Super thick grass in the roughs . Too many par 3s in my opinion . But they all were very unique . Loved the course would definitely come back . Price was very fair for the course .
Extremely Slow PoP
We use to play this course a lot precovid and I keep my handicap actually at this club. Today was probably the best I have ever seen the conditions at La Mirada. The course got into really bad shape during covid when they had single carts for everyone, but it is in great shape now. Greens a bit sandy still but usually they are battered with divots and they were reasonably clean of them today.
However, the PoP was the worst I've experienced in years. It took 3 hours to play the front nine and the only reason why it didn't take 3 hours on the back is because groups were leaving. In fact, two people in my group left at hole 8 and 10 due to pace. We didn't wait extremely long in between shots when we were playing the hole, typical 4.5 hour pace. However, every tee box would get backed up with 2 groups and every par 3 we reached had 3 groups and one time 4 groups waiting.
This course allows fivesomes and spaces tee times 8 minutes apart. Far too little time in between to accommodate a reasonable pace of play. The starter at least mentally prepared us and told us it was going to be slow and that is how it is there all the time. 5 hours minimum for our round expected but on weekends typically 6 hours. Slower than usual I guess for 12:40PM tee time cause it took us 5 hours and 40 minutes.
I would not play here again unless I have a 7AM tee time or earlier to ensure a reasonable pace. If you don't care about pace, the course is in great shape.
