Very underrated
When golfers research or hear "North Berwick," one particular golf course comes to mind: the West Links, famous for its Redan and several other quirky delights. But there's also the East Links, known as The Glen. It's a terrific course in its own right.
It doesn't quite live up to the West Links, but what it does deliver - quirky-fun first and last holes, with several cliffside tests in between, and overall better views than its sibling - makes it well worth the relatively modest (£75) green fee.
Bargain on the East Lothian coast
The course is built up on a Cliffside, so it plays much more up and down than a typical links. Happily, that only added to the interesting mix of holes.
Great but at a price
Its a great course for scenery and views. It has a lot if holes with wind and against wind so adjusting clubs essential. However price continues to rise. Have played this every year for 5 years and price is now +80% !!
Excellent course ,superb views , excellent value for an East Lothian links
First time visiting the area ,with so many other excellent courses to chose from, the course was as good as all previous information I had been given , and the recommendations were well founded. From initial contact with starter, to the bar staff , everyone was friendly. The course was in superb condition for March ,the greens putted perfectly, amazing as the greens staff had cored 13 of them in the morning! (There was a posting on their website that the work was being carried out this week)
Excellent value for money when compared to some of the other links in the area,
Can thoroughly recommend the course to anyone visiting the area.
Will definitely play again on a return visit to East Lothian.
Great course and real Links
The weather was extremely windy but the course was very good prepared.. Had showers thru 2 holes but that wasn't a problem. Enjoyed the course very much, so much that were gonna play again to day.
Great Course. But Check your Booking
I've played this course before and the experience was up to the usual high standard. Great views and very well maintained.
However, the club had no record of my booking when I arrived. The same thing happened to another couple. Fortunately the starter managed to slot us in otherwise it would have been a long wait. In future I will phone the course to check even if I have a confirmation from Teeofftimes.
A bit of everything.
It is hard to categorise this course. There are plenty of easy shots but also some tough shots, some terrifying shots and score wrecking shots to be played. I have read some complaints about blind shots but there was only one which you might say was unfair and if you have a yardage device it isn't much of an issue. Course was in great condition when we played it and the views are spectacular. This is well worth a visit.
Pleasant Surprise
While in East Lothian to play the more noted courses like Gullane and N. Berwick, we played an "extra" round at the Glen. What a treat! The course itself is a good course - not particularly tough, or even very linksy. You cannot beat the views that you get on this course. Holes 9 and 12 play into the background of Bass Rock, while 13 is simply stunning. The view from the 18 tee is stunning as well. It is just a memorable round of golf. Not too tough, but a few world-class holes and views.
Panoramic views over to Fife and the Bass Rock.
On a beautiful sunny day this course is a real treat.
A good mix of straightforward and challenging holes
Excellent catering and well presented, tidy course with lovely greens..
George & Ally
Superb course in wonderful condition and suits all handicaps. My son is just learning the game and loved the course and scenery. Staff as always are very friendly and make you feel welcome at all times. My favourite course in East Lothian.
World Class
Superb course, it was fairly crowded but we still made it around in 3.5 hours. Excellent outing!
Great conditioned course
Late tee off which meant no one else around but enough time to get all 18 holes in. I had heard that earlier rounds were continually held up which from playing the course and so many fairways running alongside each other , I can see why.
Quick greens and with ground hard took a few holes to work out the right club.
Bar is supposed to stay open till 9, but we found it closed after our round.
Will return, but not on a weekend or during the day.
Always a good day
Always a good course to play . Disappointed we weren't told about the temporary greens on some holes . Still a very good day .
Not as well known.....
This is North Berwick's "other " course and while some may pooh-pooh it as the weaker sister of the world class North Berwick Golf Club, this course has it's own charms. A more uplands links, it's very playable, in good enough shape and a lot cheaper than the west links. The view of Bass Rock and the Firth are spectacular and the 13th hole, a par 3 along the water, has to be one of the prettiest views ever. Call it a hidden gem, a viable option if for some reason you can't get onto the main event. The money saved will buy you a nice lunch, for 2!
