Bit slow today

Played this course before and it was slow and busy today that’s the only reason the pace of play is only 1 star but that’s because it’s really nice out and sunny, usually it’s a good pace but course was very nice as usual and it’s always well maintained and solid course

Fantastic course

If I stayed closer to this course, I’d be signing up tomorrow. I found the staff very welcoming. Didn’t get the chance to really speak to members as it wasn't busy but I was greeted with hellos from them.

The course is a good mix of holes. I usually drive whenever possible and this course forced me to use an iron off the tee several times.

There looks to be plenty drainage for wet weather. The greens were in fantastic condition and all played consistent.

My only negative is the condition of the bunkers. Lots of stone in them and inconsistent with how much sand were in each one I was in. Some felt like I couldn’t splash out at all. But I guess that was an extra reason to avoid them. It wasn’t enough to drop a star off the condition of the course.

Will happily come back for a round

Fun course in great condition

I had a great time at Newbattle. I had never played there before so wasn’t sure what to expect. The teeboxes, fairways, rough (which I found myself in a few time), and the greens were in great condition. Had some nice views of Arthur’s seat and the pentlands in the May sunshine too. My favourite hole was the par 4 17th over the river, which was very unique. My only issue with the course was that some of the bunkers were quite rocky so a risk of a dented wedge.

Good course

Enjoyed the round, it's a good varied course.

2 holes on temporary greens and then other greens were slow but ok (especially for time of year).

Great day out

3 of us played the course for the first time , we were all very impressed by the condition of the course in general considering the time of year and the greens in particular were superb.

Staff were very accommodating and informative , we also encountered a few members on the course who were also very talkative and friendly.

We will definitely play this course again.

👍👍

The only reason I’m not giving full marks is because there were a few Winter Greens in use as well as 6 greens being repaired. I will definitely play again but next time it will be in the summer. Staff friendly, and the members we spoke to were very friendly and informative. Also eating amenities were closed.
