Edinburgh's Craigmillar Park Golf Club, which sits near Blackford Hill's Royal Observatory, offers a parkland panorama of the city, East Lothian and the Perthshire Hills. The club formed in 1895 and has remained at its current location since 1907, and the designer James Braid extended the golf course to 18 holes in 1927.

The Craigmillar Park Golf Club's course measures 5,825 yards and hosts the 72-hole Craigmillar Park Open each April. Nick Faldo won in '76, turning professional soon after. Marc Warren won in 2000 and '02 and is now a top golfer. Lloyd Saltman, who won in 2007 and has since turned professional, plays the Asian Tour.

Craigmillar Park Golf Club offers several fantastic holes, perhaps the best of which is the par-3 15th, The Dams, on which your tee shot needs to clear a burn guarding a green that slopes nastily.

Lovely course, welcoming locals

I enjoyed a wonderful round at Craigmillar park GC on a beautiful sunny Sunday in Edinburgh. The Pro and members were very friendly, welcoming this lone player into their game. The course is challenging but very fair, and the greens were in wonderful condition. Excellent value for money and fantastic scenery

Good course played before

Course was busy last time I played so pace was slow but it usually is quite good, it’s very hilly so if you’re unfit better start doing some cardio before you play

Good greens poor experience overall

Clubhouse closed at 7pm so couldn’t get pint and food after. Starter box locked when arrived so couldn’t get cards or buy balls. Had to pay for tees.

A Great Round for the Money!

From check-in to tee it was friendly and seamless. Nice practice area with net and mat if you are early. Love the layout and hills. Course was in very good condition. Am definitely playing again while here in Edinburgh.

Long long I’m gone…

A very fun course to start nd then repetitive at the end. Consistency of a long distance is needed. Many errors due to an unfamiliar hole layout and surprise water, hidden hazards. Enjoyed it! I’d go back!!!

Nice course with some engaging holes

Nice, engaging course with some interesting holes. It is undulating and few up hill tracks which didn’t fell too strenuous but might not suit everybody. Friendly staff in the clubhouse and the pro shop. Great views across Edinburgh at the top of the tenth hole tee. Definitely will be back.

Stunning views. Unusually dry conditions at time of playing meant the ball would roll for ages. Combining this with the side leaning slope of many of the holes resulted in many lost balls despite playing on the fairway.

Nice relatively short course but with some very nice holes.

Really enjoyed Craigmillar Park. A relatively short course but with some challenging holes and overall a good layout which can allow you to score if playing well. Pretty hilly but manageable. Will certainly return and may be my go to course while in Edinburgh and looking for a fun game.
