Musselburgh Golf Club

Musselburgh makes a good case for being the oldest course in world! To play a course the queen of Scotland played in the 1500's is an honor.

Great and friendly staff in pro shop. The course is not in pristine shape, but so what. To see the layout (as it was 500 years ago) and soak up the history is special.

If you are a serious golfer, and have a chance to play here... it is a must.

At £30 for a winter round this was the best value I’ve come across for some time. The Professional was really nice and advised me of a few things to look out for. Played off matted tees which were the best I’ve come across. No mats on the fairways and full greens which were in really good condition. Did get stuck behind a four ball but they kept up a decent pace. It is a long flat course with no respite so make sure you take your best driving form. The par 3s were all really good holes of varying lengths, Pretty sure I used every club in the bag which is always a sign of a good course.

This is a lovely 40 quid golf course. The locals I was told pay even less. I was charged $175 or 130 quid.

Total rip off.

Shoulda taken rbs few extra minutes to play Gallen 2 again

Great course to play - quite challenging with long par 5s. Definitely good for all levels of players. Staff super friendly and clubhouse facilities good. Definitely recommend and will play again

What a fantastic course ! Never complacent - each hole makes you truly think about how to negotiate a par. As a long parkland, it is a challenge which you will remember.

The views are spectacular and it is no wonder this course was an Open Qualifier (ask Tyrell Hatton).

A friendly welcome in the Art Deco clubhouse, with terrific food to sweeten the deal.

The course is great, didn't go in the clubhouse so can't comment too much, looked nice. Had a bit of frost overnight so most tee boxes were played off mats and there was still 3 greens that were winter greens all other greens that were open had been drilled so putting was a nightmare. We were held up all the way round until the 14th hole when a tie of 4 didn't ask to play through us just said we are playing through as we are playing a tie, I tried to explain the we were not holding them up it was the very slow play of the 2 members infrastructure of us, fell on deaf ears and then was massively held up by the the group playing a tie. That was the worst part ot the day. So overall good play was very slow and rude members bare in mind we had a dozen chances for the slow 2 members to let us play trough.

Another enjoyable visit to Monktonhall on a glorious autumn afternoon! The best word to to describe this place is grand- lengthy holes, big fairways and surrounded by huge tall trees. The test of golf is both tough and fair, some eye watering yardage par 4s are well compensated by wide fairways, all 4 par 3s play under the 200 yard mark too which I think is great (big thumbs down for long soulless par 3s). Highlight holes for me were the par 3 11th braids best which I could hit balls into all day and the par 4 17th Kirk another outstanding hole. This is a course where you cannot fake it, it demands quality shots and you will use every club in the bag. A course where only 10 handicap and down will fully appreciate

Played 1st November ok value £25 a round in winter but wouopay £100 in summer

Bit long for a me but perfect for better players. Great price to play an open qualifier. Course was in great condition. Friendly welcome by all staff.

First time playing the course and was impressed with the layout and the varying hole lengths. Greens were generally good apart from a few which were looked like they were recovering from vandalism.

The fact it was a beautiful autumn afternoon helped but a really well laid out course with some picturesque holes and in excellent condition for late October.

Course was in great condition even although it had been heavy rain the night before. Probably about off the greens had been tined but still playable.

Well worth the money

The course was in good condition but unfortunately the friendly course staff were busy trying to fix the greens as some low life had sprayed weedkiller on half of the greens. The greens that were left untouched had a good strong consistent surface.

The course itself is well bunkered and the bunkers themselves are some of the best I’ve seen and played from. The greens are on the smaller side so accuracy is key.

Overall had a very enjoyable round.
