Surpringly Good Golf at Pelham Bay - Split Rock
Played Pelham Bay last Friday very impressed with conditions of greens, bunkers, and fairways. The investment NYC made a few years ago to upgrade traps was evident, closing holes have attractive signature trees just behind greens.
Played Split Rock week before, a great layout, space between holes, greens fairways in good shape, only issue lack of maintenance of the traps. A bit more work and would be a top public golf course.
Overall would not hesitate to recommend either course.
Courase Conditions need to be better
At least half of the tee boxes need serious grass planting . The course`s fairways need sunken areas and bumps repaired , seeded / top soil .
* The greens are good , keep up the up keep , cutting and rolling .
Ball washers need to be put out . Open up the putting green . Open the restaurant , thank goodness for the cart persons.
Its a fun place , don`t let it slip away .

Excellent time
Pelham Bay golf course is a very nice course. Mostly straight aways holes which is great for the less experienced golfer and people looking to have some fun. Overall experience is excellent and I will be playing this course again.
Nice course, slightly overpriced
I enjoyed playing here it was a beautiful day, as expected the beverage prices are a bit jacked up but that's normal so no complaint there, staff was great all around.
The course was nice no complaints there aside from the pace of play, I had a 936 tee time do they recall if we started late but constantly caught up to the group ahead of us.
$70+ for a round seems a bit steep for this course when I could go play Saxon Woods for about the same cost... Aside from slightly overpriced I enjoyed playing here and will return.
Ps. I hate that they take an ID for golf cart key, I forgot t other get mine and might force myself to play again next weekend here just to get it back... DONT FORGET YOUR ID AT END OF MATCH HAHA
Debris makes it hard to see, but turkeys love the view
Overall beautiful grounds, unfortunately some signs for various holes are missing (taken as souvenirs?), balls are very difficult to see in and among debris (leaves especially), but the local turkeys seem to appreciate the company
No Ranger and way to slow
Played Pelham Bay on Saturday. had to wait about 30 minutes until after our tee time until we were finally able to tee off. In front of our group were two groups of FIVE and there was no ranger, let alone starter on the first hole, to help control pace of play. Took about 3 and a half hours to play 14 holes at which point that was our round.
Bad conditions
The entire course is just saturated and soaking wet and half of the fairways are just mud.
Pelham golf
The course was in good shape but the pace was slow. No starters at first hole or on course staff. Watched each member of 4 some hit 2 tee balls each on 1st hole.
Not enough carts
Overlooking the course causing an incredibly slow place of play, coupled with a severe lack of carts makes this not enjoyable. You're lucky if the cart you get from the 1990s still even works
