Fairways were in good shape two green were damaged Photo submitted by phischman on 08/07/2013
Outstanding course conditions
Wow....exceptional green conditions today. Rolled true, great pace. Will return.
Bunker play
The bunkers have not been maintained for a long time. They looked like weed traps instead of sand traps. You could not hit out of them. Terrible
This course has a good layout
First off, many bunkers were still not clear of debris and weeds. For at this point in the season it says quite a lot about management. It costs more to play this course now than before, so am a bit disappointed.
Pelham
Very friendly staff at the front gate. Course flowed very nice and was very well kept. Greens were tricky which was a nice challenge. Had to stop at 15 due to darkness but will be back for a full run of the course.
Great cost to be in the Bronx
Great cost to be in the BronxI had a fantastic time tonight it was a great 18 horse game I met a very nice guy and I will do it again and I recommend it to anyone else as well
A nice round
I enjoyed playing a four-hour round today. This is a good layout. The crew makes sure the greens and aprons are in good shape. But I think lack of money prevents them for maintaining bunkers, which were a sea of weeds. The answer is: hit it straight and avoid the bunkers.
Late start, slow round
Had a 250 tee time, didn’t get out until 325 because they didn’t have enough carts. When I started the back 9 it was a much slower pace, appeared a lot of new different people were playing back 9 and really slowed down the pace, because of this got to dark to finish 18th hole.
The worst golf course
Where in the world can you find a bunker with grass growing on it. It’s not only one or two but all over the place. Not to mention that the bunkers sand are hard. It just show that there was no course maintenance. It’s a beautiful course and par 4’s are long but it needs more attention from the management.
Split Rock Golf
Played this course right after it reopened in July. Greens, bunkers & fairways were in real good condition. Played it again on Labor Day & was shocked at the course conditions. Fairways were patchy the greens were unmaintained with high fescue growing in many. I actually lost a ball in tbe bunker. Absurd. Greens were aerated but there should have been an aerification notice when booking. Mosquitoes are always a nuisance but I won't judge the course for that. Hope American Golf can get it's act together. I've heard Clearview Golf & Dyker Beach Golf which they also run arr in poor shape.
Course in bad shape and not maintained
The course is in terrible shape. Would not recommend playing here. We did 18 holes earlier today morning. The bunkers are hard as rocks and full of weeds and dirt. Never seen a course in worse shape. The first 9 holes were bug infested so would recommend bug spray and not starting before 10am. The fairways and rough are not trimmed. I included one of the bunker pictures, and most of them are similar. The fees with carts are reasonable but the course is not at all worth the time.
This course is terrible
Played this course a few times,1st time this year on it, was shocked,
The greens were half grass half sand, the ball was getting covered in wet sand on way to the hole, greens were all covered in small holes probably for drainage, the bunkers hadn’t being raked this year full of dirt and leaves,16th fairway horrendous, not if it was free would I go back, $160 wasted on this course for 2 golfers
Mosquito minefield
Booked this course for 6:20am tee time, the night before because it was available. We will never go back. There were mosquitoes everywhere but holes 7-9 were particularly unbearable. It felt like we were in a horror movie being attacked by mosquitoes. There were about 50 mosquitoes swarming you at any given moment. We had to skip those holes. The starter was nice enough to come check on us with insect repellent but it didn’t help.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
The other two golf course in Staten Island which are run by American Golf are also in horrible condition.
