Golfer Reviews
Bad timing Back 9 erated
Nice course, staff friendly near to other amenities that the club house might not give you.
Hideous, beware, aerated greens, only 9 holes available
Those who plays it know the nature if this course. Good if are a beginner, that is it! You will get hit by stray balls, from either the players in your own group! Or from three fairways across. Just aerated greens and shovelled sand on top, I thought I was a cat looking to take a dump in the litter box! Know what you are signing up for, then enjoy being outdoors… sort of.
The Course has a great layout however….
This course never fails to disappoint me. It seems like every time I decide to give it another chance, there’s something going on that negatively impacts the experience.
This review is specifically based on my most recent visit. When I arrived, I found out that the entire back nine was closed, and there was no warning or notification from GOLFNOW when I booked the tee time. That was extremely frustrating, especially considering I paid for a full round.
On top of that, every green had been punched, making the playing conditions even more difficult. Given the combination of the aerated greens and the closure of the back nine, I feel the course should have either temporarily closed or, at the very least.
Additionally, the value simply does not match the conditions. I recognize that the course has made upgrades and invested in improvements, but the current experience does not justify the price being charged.
An old track in the shadow of a bridge.
Sentimental reasons aside (my Grandfather and Mother both played here when they lived in Nrooklyn in the 1930’s and 1940’s), I enjoyed playing here yesterday. The course was in very good shape considering the amount of rainfall in the area. They also need to add senior tees.
Why
LOL only reason I venture near Dyker was a becuz I got a hot deal for $30.
I pull up and the guy says we’re already 1 hour behind - on a Tuesday!
Pace of play horrible.
Awesome Course for the money.
Excellent and friendly course Staff. I always play here every week.
Horrible conditions
I played in May and the course condition was nice. And I just came back in early July and dirty patch is everywhere. Like you cant even see grass in half of the fairway. Just horrible condition

Every time I play at Dyker I always say it can’t get any worst than last time but they always manage to surprise me, from not having enough carts, to staff members giving us a hard time with our green fee purchases, to being 30 min+ delayed at hole 1, to staff members jumping the queue for a round… and now to one of worst conditions I’ve played and I’ve played on almost all the muni courses. I already have a pretty low bar.
Tee boxes were almost never flat and had minimal grass. Some were just plain uneven dirt. And then if I manage to hit a good shot on the fairway, I was somehow still punished as many parts of the fairway just barren sand/dirt with dead grass. Paying $100 for this is just unacceptable, along with a delayed start time and an almost 5hr round … what yall doing dyker?
Amazing hidden gem in Brooklyn
Came to play this course with my son who lives in Dyker Heights and there were several times where we didn’t even feel we were in Brooklyn the course amazing very Shinnick well kept unfortunately there is a little bit of litter among the holes but that’s not the course full just the visitors. The staff was amazing welcoming and really engaged throughout the 18 holes to make sure everybody was keeping up with pace of place which was necessary. Jerry at the pro shop was very good. I will be coming back.
Early morning round
Check in was easy the starter was very good and he sent us to the tee box within 5 minimum minutes upon arrival. Course is in excellent condition. Greens and tee boxes were clean.
Too long of a way to tee off because of two outings back to back and that notifying the people online
No cards available due to outings little house back to back no coordination from staff on outing
Expect to be here for 5+ hours.

Had a 10:32 teatime on a beautiful Friday, wasn’t on the box until 11:10. The course could be great except it’s not, some fairways are great and the course allows you to use your diver a lot. The grass is very thin on the fairway and is extremely firm all over the course - and this was the day after rain.
Some of the greens are unplayably hard. Zero give to them at all. You’ll hit a beautiful Iron it’ll land perfectly on the green and somehow runoff the back every single time. The greens have zero divots in them because they are so hard.
With a 1032 time I finished playing at 3:35
Great Minu Course
It sounds like a lot of the complaints come from people expecting a private club experience at a public course. Public courses in places like Brooklyn , Queens and the Bronx are naturally going to play slower because you’ve got amateurs, casual golfers, and weekend players all sharing the course — that’s just part of the experience.
The staff here has always been friendly and accommodating, the course itself is in great shape, and the grounds crew deserves credit for keeping it maintained so well. They’re courteous, hardworking, and clearly take pride in the course.
For the people constantly leaving negative comments about pace of play: if you want a faster, more exclusive experience, maybe a private club is a better fit. Otherwise, relax and enjoy the round.
