Golfer Reviews
Little things make a huge difference
This was my third time playing Mill Creek over the past two seasons. It’s the little things that really make the course a lot of fun to play. The new golf carts, with attached coolers, stocked with complimentary ice and bottles of water on a 80+ degree day are a welcomed addition to my golfing experience. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and informed us when a tournament was starting on the front nine so we knew what our pace of play should be. The tavern is nicely stocked with a wide range of liqueurs with top shelf selections, (could benefit from slightly larger portion sizes on the drinks, lol). I only have an average rating on course conditions, but that is a rating for mid July with a long rain drought. The tee boxes and greens are maintained very well. Nice and spongy. Fairways are a little mixed, but again, majority of the courses around Mill Creek such as the county courses, Cragie Brea, Braemar fairways are no where close these conditions. At least I have a decent chance ending up in nice green patches off my drives. Course layout is one of my favorites. One of the more true links courses around the area, with not a lot of trees, but some deep sand bunks and a lot of tall grass outside of the roughs. Finally! Very elevated in which I always enjoy. Beautiful course all around. Grab the hot deal if you see it comes up. Fall and spring rates are very reasonable too.
Nice layout with scenic views
I have played Millcreek previously and enjoyed it again yesterday. The tees, fairways and greens are in very good shape. I had a real good day putting. You definitely want to keep it in the short stuff as the heather will eat up golf balls very quickly. The rough is dry due to a lack of rain but that let’s wayward shots roll through to the Heather.
Love this course
I love playing mill creek. Pace was slow being a Friday and being a 3some. I don’t mind it one bit due to how great this course really is. Some tricky holes but once you’ve played her a few times you’ll appreciate the challenge
Great Course
It sprinkled for a couple of holes but it did not stop our very enjoyable experience of playing Mill Creek. We had 11 players, 7 played from Silver tees & 4 played white & was a fair test. The only complaint that I received was around some of the greens those that had leg or hip problems had difficulty in getting up & down. The conditions of course were excellent and staff very friendly & courteous, we will be back.
Great Course
The course is in great shape considering all the rain and hot weather we've had. The course is challenging with all the elevation changes. The fairways are well maintained and the greens are quick with subtle breaks that can be hard to see. It was a very enjoyable round.
Hidden Gem
Always a challenge and well maintained. One of the best values in the area. I prefer Mill Creek over Ravenwood, a similar links style course.
The highlight of the day for me was a 75 foot, 2 putt par.
Weather was great, so was the course!
Perfect conditions for our first time out for the season. Course was in great shape; we were expecting it to be a little soft. Despite the fabulous weather conditions, crowd was small; we weren't pushed at all, even though we don't shoot very well. Had a lot of fun...we'll definitely be back!
Great course
Challenging and enjoyable. Traps could use some sand otherwise well maintained.
Well maintained, challenging course
A well kept, well managed course. Wind plays a factor due to its elevation. Great layout, challenging sand to contend with, plays like a links style course. Certainly a good place to visit.
One of my favorites
This course is awesome. Plain and simple. There is a challenge on every hole. The undulations to the course are what makes it so appealing to me. Every time I play it’s like playing it for the first time. It is worth the 50 minute drive which i’ll be doing again soon.
Better bring your "A" game
I played well on the front 9. Not too many dangerous hazards on the front. The back is a whole 'nother story. Played the front in under 2 hours. The back took 2.5 hours. A LOT of water and sand hazards come into play on the back 9. I lost 3 balls and usually don't lose any. The layout is for a low handicap golfer. The back is a shot maker's course. The other thing I didn't like was that there were a few blind greens. Very difficult to judge where to land the ball when you can't see anything around the green from 70 + yards out. Usually they had a berm in front of the landing area and green that obstructed your view. The back 9 has quite a few highly elevated greens. I would NOT suggest walking this course. This course has a LOT of elevation changes. The food and drink was a little more expensive than other courses in the area. Limited selection of food at the turn.
