Forfar Golf Club

Played this course fully expecting all greens to be winters. Only 6 were winters. Course was fantastic, played rotten, shot 23 over gross with 4 birdies. Go figure. Was really enjoyable though.

We booked a round of golf with catering but on the date we originally planned to play there was a very strong wind and friendly staff in the pro shop encouraged us to rebook for another day. We did so and then enjoyed a great round in better weather. The course was generally in very good condition and the greens particularly were excellent. All of the staff we interacted with including the club manager, pro shop staff and catering staff were welcoming, friendly and went out of their way to assist us in booking our package and in enjoying the day. Highly recommend this club.

I played this course this week in fantastic condition. The welcome was great, at the club house and the members were really nice and welcoming. The pro was very helpful at the start and discussed areas where to hit the ball and not to, which is good for me😀. I was lucky and got a great sunny day, unfortunately got stuck behind a three ( I was on my own),eventually was let through 4 holes later. The course has some nice holes, the par 3 ninth for example and the rolling fairways on some of the holes make a nice change to some bog standard courses you find. I was asked to play off the yellows, not sure if this is a members thing, but I would have preferred the course a little bit longer. However, this is a great course for every ability and you will have lots of fun.

Kitchen closed on a Monday was the only negative.

There are many more pluses than minuses for this course. Great historical situation. Relatively short course with only one par 5 (was my favourite hole) but very hilly. The lovely guys in the pro shop did tell me about the Forfar Lie and they were right. Made for a very different challenge. Course is in excellent condition and the greens were wonderful. Fairways quite narrow on many holes and rough was thick very close to the fairway- not much semi rough. Lots ( I mean) lots of bunkers - which made for plenty of sand practice for me. Got round very quickly. Very few folks on the course. Only gripe was the cost, £59 seemed a wee bit steep.

It is a cross between parkland a links. Very undulating fairways, but with penalising rough and trees should you stray from the fairways. Greens quite slow on the day, but ran true. A very enjoyable round with 2 others who had also booked through GolfNow. Would recommend, and will be back.

Absolutely loved playing Forfar Golf course. Tee's, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Special mention to the gentleman (Ross) running the pro shop. Very informative about layout of course. Really had to call back in to thank him for such a very pleasant day. Real joy to converse with. Didn't experience club house dining. Will definitely be back with golfing buddies.

What a fantastic golf course. Green fantastic but a bit slower than I am used too. Would happily be a member of this course great test.

Our fifth visit to this historic golf course and it seems to get better each time we play it. Great course layout with some super holes.

Do not hesitate to visit the course is highly recommended.

1st playing this course, In excellent condition with superb greens. A mixture of Links and Parkland and some of the walks on the Fairways can be a challenge to the Calf's. Would definitely play again

The whole experience of playing here was soured by a four ball of members playing a medal round on front of us who were extremely slow and seemed to resent the fact that we were there at all. One in particular went out of his way to trail behind his partners and take every opportunity to slow play down. One example being where he teed off first, waited till the others played before putting his club away and was thirty yards behind them before he started to move away from the tee.
