Excellent course
Very nice course, challenging par 4's , greens in great condition, fully recommended
Ups and downs
Chose wrong course for my fitness level, very hilly and didn’t enjoy the cross fairway humps that are on most of the holes.
Course was still in part winter layout, which I didn’t expect having called too check in advance.
Beautiful views that I enjoyed
Should be good for summer 2023
The course is currently undergoing extensive renovation. Some holes are unplayable, new holes have been added (2 holes created from 1 original fairway, etc). Kinda difficult to navigate right now, especially if you use an electronic GPS device. The holes in play were good.
Mats are in use just now to protect the fairways. If you want to avoid buying one, at 5 quid each, bring one with you.
The guy in the pro shop was very helpful.
I guess by summer 2023 the work will be completed. Should be worth a visit then.
Very open course
Not a good day to review any course, it was a strong wndy day, brake failed on my trolley, it was getting blown about, tipped over a couple of times, better to discard the star rating.
Disgraceful
Booked Forfar as a last minute 4 ball booking as we were up in the area. Arrived to learn winter tees, winter greens and fairway mats. Never bothered to get the clubs out boot. Have no issue with Forfar Golf Club but had no indication of play restrictions when booking on Golf Now.
Round at Forfar
I enjoyed playing Forfar. The course was in excellent condition and i would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
The only issue I had was that it took me 3 and a half hours to play as a single. This was due to the course being busy.
Forfar
The green keeper should pay attention to pace of play and some of the bunkers and not the tees I played off and if he cares so much about what tees people off then maybe the 4 ball in front of me play off as far forward as possible then for 7 holes it wouldn’t take 2 hours
Top Class Forfar G.C.
A friendly beautiful golf course that was both challenging and fun. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I’ll certainly be back.
Bumpy but Brilliant
Excellent little course with plenty of history. Took the wife with me to caddy who insisted we get a buggy, which whilst good fun I'd probably walk the course next time. Nearly all the fairways are very undulating due to the site historically being used to grow flax prior to Old Tom Morris' converting it into an 18 hole course (I believe it is the 4th oldest 18 hole in the world and the first that was designed as an 18 from conception). Plenty of very interesting holes with a few blind tee shots and approaches. Greens were a little slow the day I played but still rolled true.
I managed to grab a deal on Golf Now for only £28.99 which is great value for money, the buggy cost more than the round at 30 quid! Even if you pay the standard high season rate (£45 at time of writing I believe), this is still well worth it. I'd certainly recommend a visit if in the area!
Well worth playing
Played a 4 ball here and the course was in great condition, greens really fast and true. Staff were brilliant talking us through the course, the history and we spoke about other courses in the area worth playing. We wanted to eat at the club but the facilities didnt start till 11am hence the 3 stars for that area.
Loved it and will be back
Lovely course on a lovely day
Really good course and value.the kitchen and pro shop was shut on the Saturday we played but all in all still had a great golf day.⛳️
Go and play
First time playing the course. A very friendly welcome and an excellent clubhouse. The course was a traditional layout which required some thinking off the tees. Greens were great given the traffic of the previous day.
Would thoroughly recommend a game here.
