Ballumbie Castle Golf Club

About
Ballumbie Castle Golf Club has an interesting and diverse layout where no two holes are even remotely similar. Located on the outskirts of Dundee, the course was a welcome addition since the area was mostly lacking in parkland courses. Golfers can expect to use most of the clubs in their bag, but not necessarily a driver on the first six holes where accuracy is more important than distance. Water hazards come into play on four holes. One of the most notable holes is the par-4 10th, which features a burn alongside the fairway, a sloping bank to the right, and a pond to the left. Ballumbie Castle Golf Club also offers a driving range and it is conveniently located less than two miles from Carnoustie.

Nice
I love playing this course I enjoy every minute right I think it's a very interesting course to play quite challenging but Quake good to play enjoy
Good Course, but not accurate
Great golf course, some challenging holes. Some large scale discrepancies with what VPAR and Golf Shake have on file for each hole yardages etc.
I love the golf course it's a very nice golf course and very friendly people on the golf course I do enjoy playing it I've played it a few times now
Nice course
Very enjoyable round of golf. Fast greens and some tricky holes. Take some extra balls with you 😂🤣🤷♂️
Challenging course
We both enjoyed the course. In very good condition. Spread across many different parts of land in between housing development. Was hard at times to know where the next hole was, were glad the people on front had a rough idea where to go. Would recommend!!!

Condition of the course was excellent, greens & fairways immaculate. I personally didn’t like the bunkers as they had very gritty sand and were shallow.
Some more signage would be helpful in a couple of holes, route to third green e.g.
Distance from several greens to next tee quite long.
Overall Great
Course is playing lovely greens are wee bit bumpy in places
Lovely parkland course with some nice aspects
Thoroughly enjoyed playing here. The course has been recently remodelled and it confused my GPS.
There are a few blind holes and few risk / reward drives.
Driving range is equipped with the latest shot tracking technology and a great place to warm up before playing.
The shop staff were helpful and as it was our first time playing, other golfers were happy to point us in the right direction when on the course.
Only drawback was getting slightly lost at the 12th hole and the children carrying a football net on to the 17th fairway as we were preparing to tee off. There are also a lot of homes bordering the course - try not to let that worry you as you stand on the tee.
I will be back...

Course is very all over the shop and holes don’t make sense, please read the signs and follow them or you’ll be lost.
Nice round spoiled by kids
Had been looking forward to a relaxing 3 ball on a new course. Both my parents were hospitalised the previous weekend and I needed this to distract my mind.
Unfortunately, on the 6th green kids were throwing found balls onto the green which distracted us. On the 7th tee, we noticed 6 kids jumping around in the fairway bunker, shoes & socks off. They had 2 bunker rakes and were digging up the sand.
They were within tee shot range but wouldn't move despite our efforts.
We contacted the Clubhouse for assistance but, to our knowledge, nobody came.
This definitely spoiled the enjoyment of our game and we'd be reluctant to come back or recommend to others. Surely this isn't the acceptable norm for this course.
Like what you've done to the place....
1st time being back here after huge reconstruction of course because of a new house building project. Thoroughly enjoyed the new layout. Lovely course and exceptional value. I fully recommend
What a fabulous find
Lovely course, some testing holes and greens. Very reasonable green fee, will definitely return.
Great course
Great course and great staff who are very friendly and welcoming. The only issue I feel there is not just for Ballumbie but all courses and tee times is that they book rounds 10 minutes apart which is absolutely fine for say a 2 ball of players with a mid handicap but when you have a 4 ball of amateurs with a high handicap then there is no chance they will finish a hole in 10 minutes and it just ends up holding up the rest of the course through no fault of their own.
Courses need to be more realistic with their tee times and if they truly want to grow the game then not making high handicappers feel under pressure in every shot is a way to do it.
