Bridge of Allan Golf Club

About
Designed by Old Tom Morris, Bridge of Allan is a nine-hole golf course dating back to 1895. It's a layout for vista lovers, offering picturesque views of the surrounding countryside, including Stirling Castle.
Watch out for the first hole, The Dyke. Measuring 223 yards from the back tees, this par 3 requires an uphill drive over a six-foot stone wall 175 yards from the tee to an elevated green. It's arguably one of the most difficult holes in Scotland.
Don't fret if you're a high handicapper. Though Bridge of Allan will push your ability to shoot low, it won't give you a beating, and there are some birdie opportunities.
The facility also includes a small practice area and nine-hole putting green.

Amazing views
Amazing views, on an amazing course, course was in fabulous conditions, a great test of golf, some tricky holes, fantastic value, and a must play course if you are in the area.
Really nice 9 holer
First time playing. Steep first couple of holes but worth it for the views and the holes at the top. Great par 3’s!
Family golf
My wife and myself played 9 holes and enjoyed the course which was a good test. Hope to return soon.
A cracking 9 hole course
This is a solid course to go round, admittedly the greens are a but bumpy but really enjoyed the course layout. Had to think hard about club selection at some of the Par 3's. You do need a good level of fitness for some of the holes but overall a cracking 9 hole course.
Wouldn’t recommend
After you haul yourself up the steep hill of the first hole you then reach bumpy greens this is throughout the hole course.
Half the fairways have unrepaired divots everywhere. Over all I don’t think il play this course again unless some serious ground work is done to it !
A little thinking required!
Great little course with some quirk and challenging holes. Views are amazing, peace and quiet is blissful, and quite often the driver is not required.
Greens were a little poor, however, when you take into consideration the time of year and the amount of rain that has fallen, they were still running true… well down to the Green-keeping Team. I will be back,… again, again, and again.
Quirky Course
A wee gem of a course with spectacular views over Stirling and parts of Perth. A warm welcome when we first arrived a nice little cafe/bar and a well organised start. The course although only 9 holes was quite quirky(a trait of Old Tom Morris) was well laid out and well taken care of. Accuracy is somewhat necessary here for a good score and although not a long course it can be quite tricky. It is quite a hilly course so be prepared to be breathing hard at times. When we played the pace of play was a bit slow but I think this was caused by beginners playing ahead of us. This however did not detract from our enjoyment of the course(we all had to learn sometime) it did however let us take in some of the excellent views which are well worth taking time to appreciate. In summary if you just enjoy golf and want a lot of fun, this is the course for you.
Great day
First time here last week. Very challenging 9 hole course that we went round twice. Tough hills so need to be fit to play this. Great views, lots of elevated tees, blind shots. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth a visit.
Quirky
Very quirky course - typical Old Tom Morris. Some stunning views of the valley from a few holes. Long par 3s, so accurate tee shots needed. Treat the first as a par 4 - unless you normally carry your drive at least 250yds - and don’t be short with your second shot over the wall or your ball will roll back towards the wall. The marker pole you can see from the first tee is for the eighth which crosses the first from right to left. Some thinking required as you plot your way around. I was a little concerned that previous reviews had mentioned poor greens, but they were perfectly fine when I played. Hilly track, a lot of blind shots and steep uphill at first and eighth. Will definitely play again if I’m in the area.
Fantastic little course
The drive to the course is stunning. Nice little club house with changing and shower facilities. Food and drink is very good and well priced. Onto the course. Tough first hole. Should be a par 4. I struggled to reach the green with a 3wd (into a slight wind) because its hugely uphill. Greens are in great shape given the very dry spell we've had in Scotland. Couple of hole cross over each other but it's well signed. Could do with a par 5 but a few reachable par 4's if you're a big hitter like me. Will defo be back at this course!!!
Greens need help
Loved the layout - quite quirky which I like.
The condition of the tees, fairways and bunkers were great but the greens were really poor. Every one - even the practice putting green.
Bloke in the clubhouse was super friendly as were others I met on my way round.
Wont be back till the greens are sorted. Disappointing.
The greens are non existent shockingly bad every green was terrible
Greens are the worst I have ever played on this place needs some serious work done on it i would not recommend to anyone and I can’t imagine walking the course in wet conditions it must be dangerous with the steep hills sorry but I wouldn’t play here again for free
