Washington County Golf Course
About
Located just northwest of downtown Milwaukee, Washington County Golf Club (formerly known as Family Park Golf Course) feels much further thanks to its seclusion in the beautiful Kettle Moraine area. Arthur Hills designed the course, which is ranked second in the nation among municipal golf course in Golf Digest. The layout sprawls across wide-open, gently rolling terrain. The subtle contours of the landscape provide a few difficult lies and they can also make the greens hard to read but overall it is a course that most players can approach with confidence. Thanks to a versatile layout it appeals to a wide range of skill levels and it is an ideal spot for tournaments and events. Over the years Washington County Golf Club has hosted several championships including the U.S. Open Qualifying Round and the Wisconsin PGA Championship.

This course has a great layout
The course has been airrated but the green were filled with sand and still roll fairly well. For early season golf the course is in fairly good shape. I love the course layout and you have many options for different tee selections.
Only Prrfect!
Fairways and greens are private CC calibre !
Must play-$43

Great for the $$
Got this for $25 on a Saturday at 2, just finished because we went off about 20 minutes late because of college tournament. Overall great experience. Great practice area, friendly folks. Challenging course.
Washington county
Course is always in great condition. The practice area is the best around. Craig and his staff do a great job.
Outstanding value and very picturesque.
First time here for me, much different from what I am used to playing here in Southeast Wisconsin. Much more of a links-type course with minimal trees. Trees that are present are either in or beyond the heavy fescue grass. Quite a few bunkers and water also come into play quite often. It was also a very windy day when I played and unfortunately did not have a great round.
The staff was extremely friendly and they took pride in working the course. Our starter Keith was great and did an excellent job. The course overall is beautiful and was in excellent condition. I would recommend playing it to anyone.
Great value links-style course
I have been playing Washington County for at least 3-4 years and keep coming back for many reasons. The layout is excellent over the rolling Kettle Moraine hill country, although not too taxing if you decide to walk or use a push cart. Fairways, tee boxes, sand traps, rough, and typically the greens are in great shape. The greens do get trampled sometimes due to the popularity of this course, but the grounds crew does roll them when they start to get a little rough and keeps them rolling really well!
Some details on what is truly impressive about this course. First, the par 3's are all unique and challenging in their own way and challenge different aspects of your game from short irons all the way to driving irons or hybrids. The par 4's offer several unique challenges as well, including some blind shots, tiered fairways, water hazards that are challenging but manageable to negotiate, and well placed bunkers in both the fairways and green side. The par 5's are long and challenging with well protected greens, but definitely reachable in regulation or better if playing from the proper tee boxes. Speaking of the tee boxes, well laid out and in excellent condition almost all the time even with heavy usage and sometimes severe divots from all levels of golfers that the grounds crew does a nice job repairing. Be prepared to think about club selection and adjust for the wind, as it can whip through quite aggressively some days especially on some of the holes up on higher ground. This course is a great complement for intermediate to novice golfers preparing to be challenged by nearby Erin Hills. The sunsets at twilight and overall scenery are fantastic and right there with those made much more famous by the nearby 2017 US Open host.
Course is in good shape, but expect to wait on holes
Have played here several times. Course has a great practice facility and three hole 'warm up' area. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Course is well maintained and a challenge. Have to play here several times to learn the lines off the tees but its a great mix of holes and some nice elevation changes.
However, every time I play here--which has always been during the week-- the following WILL happen: The starters seem to send smaller groups--like two somes off--even some singles at times. And this is during pre-covid 19 times. So many of these players--I'm assuming are locals and residents of Washington county as they get discounts, are shall I say, more seasoned and seem to be allowed to be given certain favors (like playing in a two some, or sometimes a 5 or 6 group. Regardless of the grouping---THEY WILL NEVER, EVER--UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES---LET YOU PLAY THROUGH. It happens everytime I go. One time, our group of 4 was behind a group of 5---two of which were walking and our group were riding. We waited on every tee starting staring at hole number two. There were at least three open holes in front of them the entire round. But then, 'the incident' happened--which is what my group now refers to it as. We were playing a par 5. The slow group of 5 more senior folks were on the green. One in our group was at a yardage to possibly put his 2nd shot near the green--however no way was he going to get there. He flushed his shot and the ball rolled about 10-15 yards short of the green. The entire group in front of us was on the putting surface when this happened. They finished up putting and we played the rest of the hole. When we went to go the next tee box--a par three--the group was just finishing up their tee shots and two 'ladies' started screaming and yelling at our group for hitting into them and not being patient at all regarding pace of play. We had asked earlier at one hole if we could play through and they told us--'you're not going anywhere anyway'---with open holes in front of them. We tried to explain regarding the shot they claimed going into them and that it came no where close to anyone of them-- but to no avail. They were having none of it and said we hit into them and that was that. They just don't let you play through if you're faster---its like you're almost offending them if you even ask (which I did on the last occasion) only to be told the standard--'you're not going anywhere'. I'd rate this course a 5 star if that weren't the case, but this happens everytime I play. If they grouped people together, I think it would help--plus having a marshal who kept people moving would help as well, as long as they, ya know, actually did that. Other than that, its a great course. Just be prepared to wait as you play.
Must Play at Wash Cty
