Washington County Golf Course
About
Located just northwest of downtown Milwaukee, Washington County Golf Club (formerly known as Family Park Golf Course) feels much further thanks to its seclusion in the beautiful Kettle Moraine area. Arthur Hills designed the course, which is ranked second in the nation among municipal golf course in Golf Digest. The layout sprawls across wide-open, gently rolling terrain. The subtle contours of the landscape provide a few difficult lies and they can also make the greens hard to read but overall it is a course that most players can approach with confidence. Thanks to a versatile layout it appeals to a wide range of skill levels and it is an ideal spot for tournaments and events. Over the years Washington County Golf Club has hosted several championships including the U.S. Open Qualifying Round and the Wisconsin PGA Championship.

Very Nice Golf Course
The layout is challenging but not overwhelming. The hills create blind shots and change how long some of the holes (elevation change). Course was in great condition. Fairways and greens are well maintained and the rough will cost you if you’re ball is not sitting up.
washington county
GREAT COURSE, GREAT LAYOUT, PICTURESQE,
GOOD VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY. ENJOY THIS COURSE.
Excellent
An excellent Lynx style course that always presents challenges. I shared a tee time w fellas playing from 6600 yards while I played from 5500. I saw more of the course that way and I really love it. Best course in the area
A Milwaukee area must!!!
I hadn't been to Washington County in at least 4-5 years as it was always a favorite of mine when I lived in the Milwaukee area so it was good to get back to see it from a reviewer's perspective.
If you're a golfer and you live in WI, you love fall golf and the day we played, it was perfect fall golf weather. 60 degrees and sunny. Leaves changing colors all over the place.
The value: We played 36 holes for $63 with cart! Fantastic deal.
The course:
It is wide open with a good mix of elevation changes, doglegs, and variety in hole design you will not be bored with. You cannot spray your drives as you can still find the long grass off the tee or other well place bunkers that demand your attention. Long hitters can really swing away but still have to be accurate. For the average golfer, the white tees still provide a good test as one of the course's defenses is the wind. We played the Blue tees in the morning in calm conditions and the whites in the afternoon . The wind negated any yardage advantage especially if you were hitting into it.
The course does not have a signature hole in my opinion but what really stands out is the conditioning. It was as good as any country club I have played. Greens were fast and rolling true and the fairways were lush, green carpets. You would not believe this is a municipal course.
Speaking of those greens. They are also another one of the courses best defenses. Plenty of undulation and subtle breaks really make par difficult if you're on the wrong side of the hole. Local knowledge would be helpful in deciding where to hit your approach shots.
I know they charge close to $80 for non residents during peak season but if the course is the condition is was in today, it's worth your money. The practice facility is top notch with short game area and practice holes as well.
Milwaukee County golf courses are pretty good for value but they don't come close to this gem of a facility. Can't wait to head back
Great Course
I can't get enough of this place , especially now that fall has arrived .
I've played here quite a bit and have always enjoyed it but now that fall has arrived I really love it due to the lack of leaves . This place reminds me of Erin Hills without the big price and minus the 2 mile walk just from the greens to the next tee box.
A diamond in the rough
This course is not your typical muni course. It is beautiful and challenging. Unfortunately, it was windy and cold when we were there. Nonetheless, we always enjoy playing this course. they will be adding liquor. Now, beer only.
Top Notch Facility
First time played and it won't be the last. Players need to fix there divots on greens and fairways to keep this a real gem. Cart paths in great shape. Excellent range and electric carts. Variety of food selection in club house. Overall, great design and well maintained.
One of my favorite courses. Always in great condition. Have to admit I wouldn't pay what they charge at full price but the deal I get on golfnow.com is well worth the money.
Washington County-Sept. 1, 2017
Mostly sunny, somewhat breezy, autumn-like day. Course was in very good shape, overall. My first time there, but my partner had been there a few times. The course could be much more difficult for the first time player, because of the undulations, and berms along the fairways. The high grass was definitely to be avoided. The greens were not in the best of shape, probably due to the number of players in the last few days. Overall, a very good experience. Looking forward to going back there soon.
Great layout
Washington County is a great layout, it is long plays to over 6600 yards, but is well worth the price.
Golf
Course is great, pace was super slow. 3.5 hours for ten holes. Had to leave I was getting frustrated.
Very nice
Really like the course. Usually always in good shape. Wish more golfers would repair ball marks on greens but that isn't on the golf course it's just being lazy on the golfers part. Pace of play was good. Won't pay full price because that gets a little pricey for a County course but the senior weekday rate is a good deal and Golfnow has some deals as well.
