Alloa Golf Club
About
Golf course architect James Braid designed a 6,265-yard par 71 course on the 150 acres of rolling parkland beneath the Ochil Hills that are Alloa Golf Club's home. A test for even the most seasoned golfer, Alloa also accommodates high handicappers.
All golfers will enjoy the final four holes: two long par 3s split by two long and extremely challenging par 4s. Make sure to keep an eye out for the ditch in front of the 17^th green.
Alloa Golf Club dates back to 1935. It was built on the estate of Schawpark House. One of the most influential families in medieval Scotland, the Schaws were governors of Stirling Castle until the reign of James IV.
Facilities at the club include a locker room, snooker and a dining room with a lounge bar and large flat screen television. There are also several practice areas.

Excellent as always
Challenging but very enjoyable. Lots of interesting holes with many greens not visible from the tee
Tricky blinds
A warm welcome awaits visitors at the well stocked Alloa pro-shop , which has everything you need to make your round enjoyable.
The course itself is tree lined , which offers lots of protection from any stray golf balls as well as adding features with varying elements of difficulty. There is a lot of blind approach shots to small greens which again adds difficulty and would definitely be an advantage having local knowledge or by purchasing a strokesaver at the local pro-shop which I'd strongly recommend
The condition of the course was good but the greens were a little soft after the heavy rain the day before . There were no problems with casual water on any other parts of the course , so it seems that it's only the greens that hold the water after heavy rain, like most parkland courses i guess.
After our enjoyable round , we were looking forward to an evening meal but due to covid19 restrictions we were unfortunately told that meals finish at 1600 on a Saturday in such times .So we can't comment on the clubhouse hospitality.
I would definitely recommend to anyone to have a go at the challenges that Alloa golf course presents and I will definitely return.
Shawpark.
Too many blind holes spoiled the day that said course was in good condition and well kept staff we spoke too were very nice courteous and helpful
Great value
A great day out on a course in excellent condition, highly recommended and far better than other local courses
Great Course
Hadn't played here before, but got a good price on Golfnow and thought'why not?'.
Played as a single, set off 10 mins after a 2-ball and didn't see anoy traffic other than them, who weren't holding me up.
A few blind shots, so it was tought playing it first time, but I'd gladly play again.
Great views and value.
FINE, LONG ESTABLISHED COURSE.
An excellent and at times, very scenic course. A good challenge for players of all levels without being excessively difficult for higher handicappers.
Awesome course
We travelled from England to play this course based on the glowing reviews posted by visitors who played here. We were not disappointed. Course lay out, greens, pace of play, warm welcome by the pro assistant, terrific views, state of the course as a whole were beyond our expectations. We will be touring Scotland again on September at the west coast. Alloa is out of our way but we will make it our mission to revisit this golf course because it’s worth going out of our way. I’ve played over 270 golf courses and Alloa got to be one of the courses I admire.
Alloa golf course
Everything was really good
Course was really nice & in really good condition
Was on my own but after 5 holes joined another player
Very slow as course busy due to everyone now playing after COVID plus people still furloughed
No facilities as still closed
Pro was very helpful & everyone was really friendly
Would definitely play again
Happy as Larry
Was my first time playing here and i was not dissapointed. Course was a bit wet after a couple days of rain but was perfect apart from that. Well worth another visit.
Great day had by all. Bit wet but course looking great
Lovely place to be
Rain was forecast but we only got some the last few holes. The course was immaculate if a bit wet underfoot. Could hardly get a bad lie here . The greens were slow given the amount of rain that has fallen in the last few weeks but the surfaces were very true.
We hardly saw a soul; nobody even in the pros shop when we arrived. We played at our own pace and three of us were round in three hours and ten minutes. We have played here two or three times in the last year and maybe the only thing negative is the sand in the bunkers is very heavy and, being wet, it was a devil of a job getting out of a trap. We shall return ; the views are quite exceptional too.
Good day greens in great condition staff very friendly
Not a great day out
Arrived to be told that the times were running late as it was their club championship that day. Started over 30 minutes late took about 5 hours to complete the round.
Staff in pro shop seemed totally uninterested and there was no communication as to when we were to play.
Course is nice but most greens were waterlogged.
I’d play again but wait for better weather and phone to check how busy the course was.
Shot an 83 which was nice
Beautiful Course
Small hills, fantastic layout and the greens were in perfect condition. Second time I’ve played this course in the last 2 weeks and I can’t say anything bad about it. I will definitely be back.
Great day out weather absolutely beautiful course in Great condition for being so early in season
Great course
To find an excellent course on full greens ( except one ) and in such good condition at the end of December is a rarity. Some great holes , fantastic views of the Ochils . What’s not to like ?
