Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course

Pace of play was ridiculously slow. We were lucky to get in 13 holes with a 1:30 tee time. Unacceptable in my opinion. Cart battery died for both of us. It also takes too long for anyone to pick up the phone.

For a course where a PGA tournament was previously played, I found the conditions very poor compared to many other courses in the Houston area. If the fee were 1/2 what I paid, I’d be less critical. The final straw for me was when my cart ran out of battery after only 14 holes played.

Pace was very slow and I discovered many of the issues were due to our play following a high school tournament. If the course is not capable of handling this scenario, they should not have tee times following the event.

Staff needs to remind players to fix their pitch marks. Very nice greens but people are doing their best to ruin them. Fairways and tee boxes are ok.

I wasn’t able to tee off until an hour after my teatime because they didn’t have any carts available. I checked in 15+ minutes ahead of time as well!

The course was great, weather was windy, pace of play was slow. The minor negatives I can say is the marshal never came around and slow groups didn’t allow faster play to go through. It was my first time and hated to skip holes to allow our group to finish before sunset. I wish Golf Now HD ad not allowed us to book a 1:30pm tee time. Positives were I can’t wait to play again and hope I putt better.

We had wait for golf charts more than 40 minutes. They are priority to give golf charts only members when its available not a visitor player. Our tee time was 12.10 pm but almost 1pm finally get a carts. I will never go there again.

Played with my BFF and the greens are slick and well kept the tee boxes need some work.

The course is in great conditions and is very challenging. I can't wait to play here again.

I waited 30 minutes for a golf cart after checking in at clubhouse.

Quite a challenging track, but very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the pace of play was slow and we spent quite a bit of time waiting, which is not a good thing when the sun now sets so early!!! Range was closed, too, which is never a good thing!!!

I like this course! Its long, but fairways are open. The greens are large and run true. I will be back.

Golf Club of Houston is a wonderful course; it is always well maintained and challenging to play. We played on a Saturday and expected the course to be packed- which it was- but the place of play was good (4 hr 35 min round).

After checking in we went outside to get a cart, they were out. We went back inside to notify the pro shop staff member about the cart situation, but he couldn't be bothered. He didn't call back to the cart barn or make an effort to do anything helpful, like explain the situation. So we waited 15 minutes for a cart to arrive, which cut into our time to warm up before teeing off. The baggage strap on our cart was broken so had to exchange it on the range--- that caused more confusion but the starter was at least able to get another cart..

I expect Saturdays to be busy and understand some players prefer one to a cart due to COVID-19, but the lack of carts isn't the problem. The issue was the indifference from the pro shop staff to be helpful.
